Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
Cross-platform development suits apps built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments and content. We usually use React Native, sharing a codebase across iOS and Android while adding native modules where a feature needs them. It renders each platform’s own interface components, and web developers can contribute. If you already have a React website, some logic can also be shared with the app.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design that needs screens to look identical across platforms. You need a team willing to work in Dart. Native development fits deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features needed at launch. The trade-off is separate codebases to build and maintain. We choose native when the product needs that depth of device access.
Local
What Salem organisations need from an app
Salem is a major textile centre. A textile business with staff working away from the office could use job forms that capture photos, signatures and location, then sync records when signal returns. A simple view of previously loaded information needs less work than offline editing with conflict handling.
The region also has industrial units extracting sago from cassava. For a unit whose customers frequently use an existing web platform, an app can use the same accounts and data through a shared backend. That gives customers a phone interface without asking staff to maintain a separate set of customer records.
Salem has universities too. An organisation offering appointments to students or staff could scope booking, reminders and payments alongside a staff view of the day’s schedule.
Rules
Payment handling for an app in India
If your business collects customer payments for other merchants as a non-bank payment aggregator, authorisation applies to that business. We set up and test the payment gateway and its failure handling as part of the checkout work. Razorpay and Cashfree are authorised payment aggregators. Using a gateway and establishing your own role in the payment flow are separate considerations, so tell us who collects the payment and who receives it when you describe the checkout.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. You can discuss decisions with us as the work progresses.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals. You tell us what people need to do in the app, and we agree the scope together before moving into design.
- 02
Design
We put a clickable prototype in front of you. Show it to a few customers or staff and bring their feedback back to us; changing a screen at this stage takes less work than changing it after it has been built.
- 03
Build and test
You receive test builds on your own phone through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks. Use the app for its intended tasks and tell us where the flow needs attention.
- 04
Submit
We handle listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. You retain those accounts and provide the information needed for the listings.
- 05
Review
If the app has a login, provide a working demo account and a live backend for submission. Leave room in the launch plan to fix problems and resubmit if needed.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring the decisions and materials that shape the first release.
- List the tasks users must complete, in the order they will do them.
- Start registering Apple and Google developer accounts in your company’s name; organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
- Plan a closed test if you are using a new personal Google Play developer account.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects, for the listing and the app.
- Identify when a notification would be useful, such as after an order, before requesting permission.
- List any analytics or advertising SDKs planned for the app so their data collection is covered in the store privacy answers.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The scope determines how much design, backend work and testing the app needs.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Interface variants
Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
User-generated content
Moderation needs filters, reporting, user blocking and published contact details.

How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price: the work depends on what you agree to build. An app with customer accounts also needs a backend and staff administration tools; payments or subscriptions add store purchase work. Tell us which tasks must be in the first release so we can discuss the scope.
How do I choose an app development company?
Ask how the proposed app will help people do something useful beyond viewing your existing website. A repackaged site risks rejection and gives people little reason to install it. Also ask how the app, website and staff tools will share customer accounts and data.
What account features do I need to plan for?
If people can create an account, plan an in-app route to delete it. Apple requires users to be able to start deletion inside the app; deactivation alone is insufficient. Google Play also requires a route to delete the associated data and a web link for deletion requests.
Who owns the app and its accounts?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep developer accounts, signing access and code repositories in your business’s name too. Accounts held in an agency’s or freelancer’s name can make the app difficult to move if you later change who maintains it.
What happens after the app launches?
Plan for maintenance releases as platform requirements change. Google Play requires a recent Android API target, and outdated apps can become unavailable to new users on newer devices. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air; native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
