Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
Cross-platform development shares most of the app code between iOS and Android. It suits products built around accounts, forms, lists, maps, bookings, payments or content. We usually use React Native, with native modules where a feature needs them. That gives you one codebase to maintain while still allowing individual features to use platform-specific capabilities.
React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components. Your web developers can contribute, and some logic can be shared with a React web app. Flutter is another cross-platform option: it uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits heavily branded screens that need to look identical on both platforms.
Native development uses Swift for iPhone and Kotlin for Android. It fits apps built around deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch, but leaves you with separate codebases to build and maintain. We help you choose by looking at the features your app needs and where shared code or native access fits the work.
Local
What Memphis organisations need from an app
Memphis is a commercial centre for transportation and logistics. If your delivery or inspection team works away from the office, an app could give staff job forms with photos, signatures and location. Records created offline need a way to sync when the signal returns, including a method for handling conflicting edits.
The city is also home to the University of Memphis, LeMoyne–Owen College and Rhodes College. An organisation whose users frequently return to an existing web platform could add an app that uses the same accounts and data. We build a shared backend for the app, website and admin tools, so staff have one place to manage that information.
Rules
What a United States app project has to handle
For a state or local government app, the ADA Title II rule requires mobile apps to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. That changes the screen and interaction design: we set up the app’s screens and flows against that accessibility standard as part of the build.
For checkout, we set up the payment route to match what you sell. Apple requires in-app purchase for digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app; physical goods and services used outside it need another payment method. Stripe is available to businesses in the United States and is an option for card checkout.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of the mainland United States, with the difference changing during daylight saving time. The shared board keeps decisions and feedback visible across the working day.

Discover
Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We agree the scope with you before moving into design.
- 02
Design
Review the iOS and Android screens and flows. We refine them with your feedback before writing code, so you can check the route through each task.
- 03
Build and test
Try a test build on your own phone through TestFlight or a Google Play testing track. Your feedback comes from using the app, while we also test on real devices.
- 04
Submit
We handle the store listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. You retain control of those accounts.
- 05
Prepare for review
If the app has a login, provide a working demo account and keep the backend live. Leave room to fix and resubmit a build if review finds a problem.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
A few practical details will help us agree what to build.
- List the tasks users must complete in the first release, in the order they would do them.
- Name the website, booking, CRM or payment systems involved, and note their APIs and admin access.
- Start registering company developer accounts; organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number.
- For a new personal Google Play account, recruit people for the required closed test before production.
- List any analytics or advertising SDKs you plan to use so their data collection is covered in the store privacy answers.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline?
The scope determines how much design, backend work and testing the app needs.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Integrations
Each payment gateway, booking system, map or connected device needs setup, testing and failure handling.
Screen design
Custom animation, additional languages and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
User content
Posts from users need moderation tools, including reporting, blocking and filtering.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Memphis
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The scope of the backend, offline editing and the rules for sending notifications all affect the work. For example, notification settings need to give users control over the categories they receive. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Which app developer should I hire?
Choose a developer who explains how you will control the app and see how it performs. Ask who holds the code repository and signing access, and how crashes will be reported. Analytics and crash reporting in the first release can show where people leave a task and which devices experience crashes.
Does my app need a login?
That depends on the features users need. Apple asks apps without significant account-based features to let people use them without logging in. If your app lets people create an account, it must also let them start deleting it inside the app; an option that only disables the account is not enough.
Who owns the app code?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. We handle design, development and launch with the same team, so the people shaping the screens are involved through the build. Ask about ownership before work begins, and keep the assets your business needs to continue developing the product.
What happens after the app launches?
We provide ongoing support for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features. Regular maintenance releases also help keep the app available to new users on newer Android devices. After release, review returning users, drop-off in the main task and the crash-free rate to see what needs attention.
