Choosing
Should you build a cross-platform, native or web app?
React Native and Flutter share most code across iOS and Android. That suits apps centred on accounts, forms, bookings, maps, payments or content. We usually build with React Native and add native modules when a feature needs them. Flutter draws its own interface and suits a heavily branded design when you are happy to work with Dart.
A native build in Swift and Kotlin fits an app built around deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. The trade-off is maintaining separate codebases. A progressive web app is another option for a staff tool: it skips store review, although it will not appear in app stores unless packaged for them. On iPhone, notification requests are available after the web app is added to the Home Screen.
Start with the tasks your users need to complete, then choose the approach that supports them. We help you weigh device features and the work of maintaining the app against the flexibility of sharing code.
Local
What Karnataka organisations need from an app
Karnataka has major public-sector manufacturing industries, including organisations based in Bengaluru. For a manufacturer with inspection or maintenance teams, a useful app could put job forms, photos, signatures and location records in the hands of staff, then sync their work to the office when a signal returns.
The state is also home to biotechnology firms. A firm whose customers already use its web platform might consider an app when those customers use the service frequently. Reusing their existing accounts, data and backend gives them access to the same information on their phones without creating a separate account system.
Rules
What an app project in India has to handle
For customer payments, we set up the checkout around what you sell. UPI supports person-to-merchant payments, and an online payment aggregator handling customer payments for merchants needs authorisation. Razorpay and Cashfree Payments have received that authorisation. For digital goods and subscriptions sold inside an app, Google Play billing is required; it must not be used for physical goods or services such as groceries, transport or event tickets. We set up in-app purchases and subscriptions for the stores.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely with clients in other cities and countries. You can discuss the work with us over video calls and WhatsApp, and follow it on a shared project board.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the tasks you want users to complete, so we can discuss the work against those goals.
- 02
Design
We design the iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. You review the flows and tell us where they do not fit the way your users work.
- 03
Prototype
Put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback helps you spot a confusing screen while it is cheaper to change than after it has been built.
- 04
Test
You receive builds on your own phone through TestFlight for iPhone or Google Play testing tracks. Use them in real situations and share what you find.
- 05
Submit
For an app with login, prepare a working demo account and live backend for Apple’s review. Leave room in the launch plan for a fix and resubmission if needed.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
A few practical decisions will make the first conversation more useful.
- List the tasks users must complete in the first release, in the order they will do them.
- Start registering Apple and Google developer accounts in your company’s name; organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects, for the app and its store listing.
- Check the closed-testing requirement if you plan to use a new personal Google Play developer account.
- Plan an account-deletion route if users can create accountsboth stores require an in-app path, and Google also requires a web request link.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and work involved
The scope determines the work to design, build and test your app.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Integrations
A payment gateway, map, booking system or Bluetooth scanner adds setup, testing and failure handling.
User-generated content
You need ways to filter material, accept reports, block abusive users and publish contact details.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building an app
Wrapping a website in an app shell
Give people a useful reason to install the app. A repackaged site risks rejection by Apple.
Putting sign-up before any value
Let people explore without logging in when the app does not have significant account-based features.
Adding an analytics or advertising SDK late
Update the Google Play Data safety form to cover data collected by that SDK.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Karnataka
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price: the work depends on the scope. An existing backend with a documented API can reduce what needs building, while a new backend and admin panel add substantial work. Offline editing and later synchronisation also take more work than showing the last loaded data without a signal.
How do I choose an app development company?
Ask how the team will choose a platform and handle publication. A useful discussion should cover the device features your app needs and whether shared code is suitable. Also ask who controls the developer accounts: we handle store listings, submission and review under your own accounts.
What is included in an app build?
The work usually includes the phone app, a backend for accounts and data, and an admin panel for staff. Plan analytics and crash reporting into the first release too. Tools such as Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics show which screens people use and which devices experience crashes.
Will I own the app and its code?
Yes. You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. If you also have a website, we can build a shared backend for the app, website and admin tools. Discuss that arrangement when agreeing the scope so the systems are designed around the data they need to share.
What support is available after launch?
Ongoing support covers bug fixes, updates for new iOS and Android versions, and new features. Some JavaScript and content fixes can be sent over the air, while native code changes and new permissions need a store release. Regular maintenance also helps keep the Android target API current.
How do push notifications work?
We set up push notifications with a sending service, rules for who receives each message and when, and settings for notification categories. Ask for permission when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.
