Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins gives you room to add features, although the site needs regular updates to stay secure. Decide who will make those updates before you choose.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a business that wants fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. It can still have an editor, but structural changes need a developer. That distinction is useful if your team expects to change page layouts as well as text.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run alone. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean a rebuild. We discuss how your team works and how often it will edit before recommending an approach.
Local
What Southport businesses need from their websites
Southport has an indoor market and a farmers’ market. Traders need visitors to see what they sell and know how to get in touch. We plan where enquiries go, who receives them and what the form confirmation says, alongside any WhatsApp or click-to-call buttons on mobile.
Tourism remains part of Southport’s economy. A visitor-facing business needs pages that explain its offer clearly and give people a straightforward way to ask about it. We set up contact and quote forms to reach the right inbox, with WhatsApp and click-to-call where needed.
Southport College and King George V College also need to keep information current. A content editor gives an organisation’s team a way to update pages, news, projects and careers without training.
Rules
What a UK website needs to handle
If your business is a UK limited company, its website must show its registered number, registered office address, place of registration and limited-company status. We make space for those details in the site so visitors can find them.
Website service providers must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and use it to guide page design; WCAG has A, AA and AAA levels, and its guidance encourages use of the latest version.
How it runs
How your website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board, keeping decisions visible between conversations. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m ahead during British Summer Time.
- 01
Discover
You explain who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do. We use that to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan
We put wireframes before visual design. You review the content and its order before colours enter the discussion.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in clean code or with an editable CMS, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check
You proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages before launch.
- 05
Launch and care
We handle the domain, email, analytics and search setup, then provide ongoing support. Your feedback remains part of the process.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, including any gaps that need resolving.
- Your main goal, such as quote requests, and who handles each type of enquiry.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a note explaining each choice.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work; book a photo shoot ahead if needed.
- Domain, hosting, email and analytics login details, or the name of the person who holds them.
- Your logo in vector format, brand colours and fonts, or a note that these still need creating.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing
The work involved changes with the material and design decisions already in place.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template need less.
Existing content
Moving and checking old posts, news archives and downloads adds work.
Brand assets
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding colours and typefaces during the project.
Copy and photos
Material ready to publish keeps the scope smaller; adding writing, photography or translation makes it bigger.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Southport
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope of the page design and build, the amount of custom design your brand needs, and whether real copy is ready all affect the work. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed. Supplying actual content early also helps avoid layouts having to be reworked.
Do I need a headless website?
A headless setup is worth considering when you need both a custom front end and a separate editor for frequent content changes. It brings more moving parts to host and maintain, so ask who will look after those parts before choosing it for your site.
What search setup is included?
We include page metadata, structured data and an XML sitemap in the build. At handover, we also set up Search Console and walk your team through the launch setup. These give you a basis for managing the site after it goes live, without promising search rankings.
Will I own my website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to whoever works on the site. That way, you retain control of the accounts as well as the materials used to build it.
What should I manage after launch?
Choose who will update news, projects and job posts, and check what enquiries the site receives. Analytics can track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, including the pages they started from. That gives you useful information when deciding which pages need attention.
