Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of its own site. Its choice of plugins gives you options for extending the site, though someone needs to keep those plugins and the platform updated for security. A custom Next.js site is faster and more secure, and it can still include an editor for your team.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that you want to run yourself. The trade-off is less control over the code and speed; moving away from the builder later can mean rebuilding the site. An adapted template can also suit a simple site with a tight brief, provided its layout is reworked around your actual content.
Start with who will make changes and how often, then look at what your brand and audience need. We learn how your team works before recommending WordPress or a custom Next.js build, so the editing setup fits the people who will use it.
Local
What organisations in England need from their websites
England has major chemical and pharmaceutical sectors. A manufacturer or business-to-business supplier needs clear capability or product pages, certifications and downloadable specifications. A quote form should ask for enough detail for the team to respond properly, rather than leaving the buyer to explain the requirement from scratch after submitting it.
London is England’s financial centre. For an accounting or consulting practice serving clients there, separate service and partner pages give prospective clients a place to check expertise and credentials before they make contact. Those pages need a structure that makes the relevant person and service easy to find.
The Midlands, North West, North East and Yorkshire developed as industrial regions. Engineering firms in those regions can use project portfolios to show the work prospective clients will judge: photographs alongside details of the projects themselves.
Rules
What a UK website needs to handle
A UK limited company must show its registered number, registered office address, place of registration and limited-company status on its website. We set up space for those details in the website, and you provide the correct information for your company before launch.
Organisations providing services through a website must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and set up the page designs with that target in mind. The W3C encourages use of the latest WCAG version when choosing a target.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead, or 4h30m ahead during British Summer Time, from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. The shared board gives us a place to keep the work moving across that difference.

Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather your logo files, brand colours and fonts, or note which still need creating.
- Rank the services or products you want to feature, so the home page and navigation lead with your priorities.
- Bring examples of sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Gather real photos of your team, premises and finished work; arrange photography ahead if needed.
- Choose your main goal, such as quote requests or job applications, and identify who handles each enquiry.
- Put case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials and relevant certifications in a folder.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time needed
Features such as booking, member logins and CRM connections add design, build and testing work.
Content readiness
copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add work.
Existing content
moving blog posts, news archives and downloads means more migration and checking.
Brand readiness
an existing logo and style guide need less design work than deciding colours and typefaces during the project.
Editing setup
a headless site pairs a custom front end with a separate editor, but adds moving parts to host and maintain.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building your website
Designing with placeholder copy
use real headings and paragraphs early, because their length can change a layout.
Choosing a platform too soon
first decide who will update the site and how often they need to do it.
Putting accounts in an agency’s name
hold the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access.
Leaving search checks until later
check page titles and the sitemap, and remove any development indexing block before launch.

Questions
Asked by businesses in England
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is a website still worth investing in?
A website gives visitors a way to understand your services and make an enquiry. Keep the structure manageable: clear service pages are easier to scan and maintain than a copy of every page on an old site. After launch, track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics and check which pages visitors started from.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price: the scope of the pages and features, and the work needed to gather content, shape the cost. Agree who owns each part of the project early. Service descriptions, team biographies, case studies and photos all need preparation, so decide who will write and supply them before the design is finished.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Bring the files you already use and tell us which elements are settled, so the page designs can reflect your business from the start.
Will our team be able to edit the website?
Yes. We provide an editor for pages, news, projects and careers that your team can use without training. We build in Next.js or use WordPress when your team needs full editing control, so the way you expect to maintain content is part of the development decision.
Will we own the website after launch?
Yes. You own the domain, the content and the code, with no lock-in. That gives your business ownership of the site and its materials after the build, so you are not obliged to keep the project with the same provider to retain them.
What happens after the website launches?
We provide ongoing support after launch. Within your team, decide who will keep news, projects and job posts current. An old newest post can leave visitors wondering whether the business is still trading, so give someone responsibility for reviewing those sections and making updates.
