Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins gives you ways to add features, though someone needs to keep those plugins and the platform updated for security. Think about who will take responsibility for those updates before choosing it.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a company that wants fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. It asks more of a developer when the structure needs to change, so consider how often your team will need to alter page layouts as well as update the words on them.
The design choice is separate from the platform. A custom design fits a brand, audience or set of content with specific needs; an adapted template can fit a simple site with a tight brief, provided it is reworked around your actual content. We recommend a platform after understanding how your team works and who will maintain the site.
Local
What Orange businesses need from a website
Fruit growers and suppliers in Orange have products including apples, pears and cherries to present. Product pages can give buyers the details they need, while downloadable specifications and a quote form with useful fields help the person receiving an enquiry respond. Decide which products belong on the site and what information you need from a prospective buyer before the form is designed.
Vineyards and businesses serving visitors interested in wine and food need a clear route through their offer. For an Orange wine or food business, a shorter site with clear pages can be easier for visitors to scan and for the team to keep current. Start with the pages you can maintain, instead of copying every page from another site.
Rules
What an Australian website project has to handle
Set an accessibility target in the brief. Australian guidance recommends WCAG 2.2 at a minimum of Level AA, so we set that target for the page designs and agree it with you before the build. This gives the project a specific standard to work towards when reviewing the site.
For a health service, the Privacy Act applies regardless of turnover. We set up contact and quote forms and a privacy page as part of the site, so plan what personal information each form needs before it is built.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 4h30m behind Sydney, and 5h30m behind during daylight saving; the shared board keeps feedback and decisions visible between calls.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Orange
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to get a website built?
There is no fixed price. The amount of content that needs writing and gathering, and the detail needed in enquiry forms and their routing, affect the work. Decide who will supply service descriptions, photos and other material, and who should receive each request. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Could I use a website builder instead?
Yes. A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that you want to run yourself. The trade-off is less control over the code and speed. Consider your plans for the site before choosing: moving away from a hosted builder later can mean rebuilding it.
What is included in the website handover?
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then give your team a walkthrough. The site can also include an editor for pages, news, projects and careers, so your team has a way to update those sections without training. Identify the people who will use the editor before the walkthrough.
Will I own my website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep a record of those assets and decide who in your team is responsible for them after handover. That gives you a clear point of responsibility for the address people use to reach the site and for the material published on it.
How should we manage the site after launch?
Give someone responsibility for keeping news, projects and job posts current. Measure enquiries as well: track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions in analytics, and check which pages visitors started from. This gives your team a practical way to review the site against the enquiries it is meant to receive.
