Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a website builder?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugins offer a wide choice of features, although someone needs to keep them updated for security. A custom-coded site in Next.js fits when you want fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits; structural changes will usually need a developer.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run alone. The trade-off is less control over code and speed, and moving away later could mean rebuilding. An adapted template also fits a simple site with a tight brief, provided the layout is reworked around your actual content. A custom design gives you more room when your brand, content or audience has specific needs.
We start with how your team works. That gives us the basis to recommend WordPress or Next.js, including who will make changes after launch.
Local
What Geelong organisations need from a website
Geelong is an emerging centre for healthcare, education and advanced manufacturing. A manufacturer or supplier needs capability and product pages, certifications and downloadable specifications, with a quote form that collects enough detail for the team to respond. Those details give prospective buyers something useful to review before they make contact.
As the administrative centre for the City of Greater Geelong, the city has organisations whose websites need a clear page structure, forms and a content editor. Agreeing who owns each part of the work helps the people managing the site keep its information organised.
Visitor-facing organisations around attractions such as Waterfront Geelong and the National Wool Museum need enquiries to reach the right person. We plan where messages go, what the confirmation says and whether mobile visitors should see WhatsApp or click-to-call buttons.
Rules
What an Australian website project needs to handle
Australian guidelines on equal access to digital goods and services recommend WCAG 2.2 at a minimum of Level AA. We agree an accessibility target in your brief and use it to guide the page work. We also set up a clear heading structure as part of the build, so page content has an organised structure from the outset. Page titles, descriptions and the XML sitemap are planned during the build too.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 4h30m behind Melbourne, or 5h30m behind during daylight saving. The shared board keeps feedback and work visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
You explain who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do. We learn your goals and agree the scope together.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes before the visual design. You review what appears on each page and its order, leaving colours for the next stage.
- 03
Build and test
We build with clean code or a content management system your team can edit, then test on real devices and browsers. You can review the working pages.
- 04
Launch and hand over
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Decide early who will gather and write your content; service descriptions, team bios, case studies and photos can take longer to assemble than the design takes to approve.
- Your logo in vector format, brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- A ranked list of the services or products you want to feature.
- Websites you like and dislike, with a reason for each choice.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Your goal for the site and the person who handles each type of enquiry.
- A folder of case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time of a website project
The scope determines how much design, build and checking work the project needs.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design, development and testing work.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add to it.
Existing content
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site adds migration and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide need less design effort than a brand whose colours, typefaces and logo are still being decided.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Geelong
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is investing in website development still worthwhile?
It is worthwhile when the site helps visitors find and contact you, and your team can keep it usable. Review every page on a phone before approving the design. Also check page titles, the sitemap and any indexing block left on during development before launch.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Bring real headings and paragraphs into the design early: placeholder text can hide layout problems that appear when the finished content is added.
Will our team be able to edit the website?
Yes. We can provide an editor for pages, news, projects and careers that your team can use without training. WordPress suits teams that edit a lot themselves; a custom Next.js site can include an editor too. We recommend an approach after understanding how your team works.
Will we own the website after launch?
Yes. You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Hold the domain and hosting accounts in your business's name and grant access to the people working on the site. That keeps control of those accounts with you if your arrangements change.
What happens after the website launches?
We provide ongoing support after launch. Your team should also decide who will update news, projects and job posts. In analytics, track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages those enquiries started from.
