Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a website builder?
Start with editing. WordPress suits a team that expects to change a lot of content itself. A custom Next.js site offers faster pages and tighter security, and it can still have an editor. It also suits a design that needs freedom from template limits; structural changes generally need a developer.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run on your own. The trade-off is less control over the code and speed. Moving away from the builder later can mean rebuilding the site, so consider who will maintain it as well as who will make the first edits.
We recommend a platform after learning how your team works. Tell us which pages you expect to update, who will make changes and where you want freedom to alter the structure. That gives us a practical basis for choosing an approach you can manage after launch.
Local
What Adelaide businesses need from their websites
In Adelaide’s commercial centre, a law, accounting or consulting practice needs service pages that explain its work and partner profiles that show relevant credentials. A prospective client has something specific to check before making contact.
Engineering firms serving Adelaide’s manufacturing sector need project portfolios with photos and details of completed work. Those pages give prospective clients evidence to assess when deciding who to approach.
Adelaide clinics serving South Australia’s health care sector need clear service pages and practitioner profiles. Opening hours and a booking or call option should also be easy to use on a phone, where a visitor may be ready to make an appointment.
Rules
What an Australian website project needs to handle
Australia’s digital accessibility guidelines recommend WCAG 2.2 at a minimum of Level AA. We agree an accessibility target in your brief and use it to guide the page layouts and forms we build. Set that target before design starts, so it can inform decisions about the site throughout the work. The W3C encourages using the latest version of its guidelines.
Some small health service businesses are covered by the Privacy Act regardless of turnover. For a clinic’s build, we set up a privacy policy page and keep the information requested in enquiry forms under review with you.
How it runs
How your website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 4h behind Adelaide, or 5h behind during daylight saving time; the shared board gives us a place to keep feedback and decisions visible across that difference.
- 01
Discovery
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do on the site. We use that to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Wireframes
We establish what belongs on each page and its order. Review the content and priorities before moving on to colours.
- 03
Design
We prepare desktop and mobile page designs and refine them with your feedback.
- 04
Build
We develop the site or an editable CMS and test it on real devices and browsers. You can check the working pages as they take shape.
- 05
Launch and handover
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Decide who will gather and write the content as early as you can.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS format, plus brand colours and fonts, or a note that these still need creating.
- A ranked list of the services or products you want to feature.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Photos of your team, premises and finished work; book a photo shoot ahead if needed.
- Your site goal and the person who will handle each kind of enquiry.
- Case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships in a folder.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time needed
The scope determines the design, build and checking work involved.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template take less effort.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, several languages and CRM connections add design and testing work.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; writing, photography and translation add to the scope.
Migration
Blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site all need moving and checking.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid
Copying every old page
Keep clear service pages that visitors can scan and your team can maintain.
Putting accounts in someone else’s name
Hold the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access.
Leaving search setup until launch
Check page titles, the sitemap and any development indexing block before the site goes live.
Designing around placeholder text
Bring real headings and paragraphs into the layouts early, before their length disrupts a finished design.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Adelaide
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is a website still worth investing in?
A website is worth assessing against the enquiries you want it to generate. Set up analytics to track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages those visitors started from. Those measures give you something practical to review after launch.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. A custom design, the work needed to prepare content and a separate front end with its own editor all affect the scope and the work to maintain the site. We send a free quote once we have agreed the scope with you.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Share what you already use and tell us where it needs work, so the page designs can reflect your business from the start.
What is included in the website build?
The build includes development in Next.js or WordPress and the search setup for your pages. We set up metadata, structured data and an XML sitemap, with a clear heading structure and fast pages. These are addressed during the build rather than left as fixes after launch.
Will we own the finished website?
Yes. You own the domain, the content and the code. Ask about the handover arrangements as the project progresses, including how you will access the domain and receive the code, so the people responsible for the site know what they will hold.
Who will update the site after launch?
Your team can update the site using an editor for pages, news, projects and careers. Decide who will take responsibility for those updates before launch. An old news or project post can leave visitors wondering whether your business is still trading.
