Choosing
Should you customise a theme or build your own?
An existing theme is a useful starting point when its layouts already suit your catalogue. Customising it keeps the initial setup lighter and makes later theme updates simpler. A custom theme gives you more control over a distinct brand or unusual products, but subsequent layout changes need development work. Consider who will make those changes after launch.
For individual features, an app can be quicker to add, while custom code or a custom app fits a more specific requirement. Apps bring recurring fees, extra scripts and reliance on their makers; custom work needs maintenance as Shopify changes. Decide which features you need before adding tools.
A headless storefront using Hydrogen or Next.js suits a content-led brand or an unusual buying flow. The trade-off is that you give up the theme editor, and apps that add features through a theme may not work. We start with your business, customers and goals, then agree the scope with you so the choice fits the work you actually need.
Market
What do buyers in Kuwait expect from a store?
A useful checkout starts with the payment methods your customers want to use. If your chosen gateway supports KNET, we configure payments for your market and check the route through the gateway. The KNET online payment portal now uses direct card number entry, so that is the payment screen to account for when checking the buyer experience.
Your selling model also shapes the setup. A retailer with physical shops might use Shopify’s point-of-sale app alongside the online store to manage stock in one system. If you sell into several countries, local-currency prices, translated content and market-specific shipping can be managed from one admin. Agree which markets and stock flows the store needs to cover before setup begins.
Rules
What does a Shopify project in Kuwait have to handle?
The digital commerce rules require online providers to display their name or trade name, registration number and contact details prominently. We make room for these details in the store. The rules also give consumers 14 days from receipt to withdraw from an online purchase, with exceptions including used, custom-made and downloaded digital products. Your returns policy needs to reflect the products you sell, and we set it up on the store.
If you are a CITRA-licensed service provider covered by its data privacy regulation, explicit consent is required before collecting personal data, with terms available in Arabic and English. We set up the consent request and make space for both versions of the terms in the build.
How it runs
How a Shopify development project runs with us
We are a studio in India and work with you remotely through video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board. IST is 2h30m ahead, so the board gives both sides a place to keep decisions and feedback moving between calls.
- 01
Discover and design
We learn about your business, audience and goals, agree the scope with you, then prepare desktop and mobile designs. You review the screens and give feedback before coding starts. We build and test on real devices and browsers.
- 02
Set access
The store stays in your account. You approve our collaborator access, choose the permissions we need and retain the ability to remove that access.
- 03
Preview the theme
We work on an unpublished copy and share it for your approval before publishing. Your live store can keep trading while the theme is being built.
- 04
Launch
We connect the domain, remove the store password, switch payments to live and import redirects. A real test order is placed and then refunded to check the purchase flow.
- 05
Hand over
Before handover, your team learns how to manage orders, products and discounts, so routine store work can be handled without asking a developer each time.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
These materials help us understand the catalogue and the work involved.
- A Shopify account and plan in your business’s name, with billing owned by the business.
- A product sheet with titles, descriptions, prices, SKUs, barcodes, weights, options and stock per location. Weights affect calculated shipping rates.
- Consistent product photos for each colour or style, plus size charts, care instructions and specifications.
- Business and bank details for your payment gateway, alongside shipping, returns, privacy and terms policies. Review any generated templates before using them.
- For a migration, exports of products, customers and orders, plus the old URLs bringing the most traffic and sales.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of Shopify development?
The amount of setup, development and testing depends on what the store needs to do.
Catalogue structure
Extra product choices, bundles, made-to-order options and specifications held in metafields add setup and theme work. A straightforward catalogue needs less configuration.
Business logic
Custom rules add development and testing. Public apps with Functions work on any plan, while custom apps containing Shopify Function APIs need Shopify Plus.
Migration depth
Moving products alone is lighter than also moving customers, order history, reviews, gift cards and redirects from an existing platform.
Integrations and markets
Connections to ERP, accounting, warehouse or marketplace systems add work, especially with two-way stock and price sync. Each market with its own prices, translations and shipping rates adds setup too.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with Shopify development
Leaving demo content in place
Check theme pages, policies and notification wording before launch. Placeholder text and default messages make the store look unfinished to buyers.
Using inconsistent product data
Agree how staff will enter tags, product types and vendors. Automated collections and storefront filters read these fields, so inconsistent entries can hide products or put them in the wrong place.
Migrating without redirects
Map old URLs to their new destinations and import the map at launch. Shopify uses fixed product and collection paths, and redirects only work from URLs that no longer load a page.

How much does it cost to hire a Shopify developer?
There is no fixed price for this work. The main drivers include the theme design, the apps and integrations you need, and how much existing store data must be moved. A custom theme, for example, involves different work from connecting and testing an accounting integration. Once we agree the scope, ask us for a quote.
Can I hire you to build a Shopify store?
Yes. We can help structure the catalogue as well as build the storefront. Collections can be selected manually or populated using conditions such as product tag, type or vendor. Products with an extra choice beyond Shopify’s three options, such as engraving text, need theme line item properties or an app.
Can you customise the Shopify checkout?
Some checkout customisation is available, but the scope depends on the Shopify plan. Shopify runs the checkout itself. Standard checkout customisation works from the Basic plan up; apps that change the information, shipping and payment steps are limited to Shopify Plus. Tell us what needs to change before choosing an approach.
How should I choose a payment gateway?
Compare the total cost per order across the gateways available to your business. Shopify charges an extra transaction fee for third-party gateways, even when Shopify Payments is also active. That comparison is especially useful where Shopify Payments is unavailable to your business, since the gateway choice affects the ongoing cost of taking payments.
Who owns the store and its content after the build?
You own your domain, content and code. That means your store is not locked to the team that built it, and you can choose who works on it later. Keep ownership in mind when deciding how your business will manage the store and who needs access after handover.
What support is available after launch?
Launch is followed by ongoing support from the same people who designed and built your store. You should also review installed apps, staff accounts and collaborator access periodically and remove what is no longer used. Shopify reports can help you track conversion and returning customers, while Search Console shows organic clicks and product-page indexing.
