Choosing
Should you choose a cross-platform or native app?
We usually build with React Native, sharing one codebase across iOS and Android while using native modules for features that need them. It renders each platform’s own interface components, and some logic can be shared with a React website. That gives you a route to both platforms without maintaining a separate native codebase for each.
Native development suits an app built around deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. The trade-off is maintaining separate Swift and Kotlin codebases. Flutter is another option: it uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits heavily branded screens when your team is willing to work in Dart.
A progressive web app can suit a staff tool and skips store review, though it needs packaging to appear in app stores. On iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after someone adds it to the Home Screen. For a store app, plan features that give people a reason to install it: a website wrapped in an app shell risks rejection.
Local
What Stockport organisations need from an app
Stockport’s town centre has stores in Merseyway Shopping Centre and The Peel Centre. For a shop serving repeat customers, an app could make reordering easier with saved payment details and a fast checkout. Loyalty features and well-timed notifications give customers a reason to return without making every visit start from scratch.
Stockport College is based in the town centre. For a college team carrying out inspections, an app brief could cover forms, photos, signatures and job locations, with records syncing to the office when signal returns. For appointment-based services, booking, reminders and a staff view of the day’s schedule are useful items to consider.
Rules
What a UK app project has to handle
UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 govern personal data. For accounts and customer data, we build a backend that can also serve your website and admin tools. If people can create an account, we include a way to start deleting it inside the app, as Apple requires.
For notifications, we set up a sending service such as Firebase Cloud Messaging, rules for who receives each message and when, and in-app settings for switching off unwanted categories. Decide which messages your customers will find useful before adding them to the scope.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We are an India-based studio and work remotely with you over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m during British Summer Time. The shared board keeps decisions and feedback visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Tell us what customers or staff need to accomplish in the app.
- 02
Design
Put the clickable prototype in front of customers or staff and bring their feedback to us. Screen changes are cheaper at this stage than after the build.
- 03
Test
We send builds to your phone through TestFlight or the Google Play testing tracks. Use them in real situations and tell us where a flow needs work.
- 04
Launch
We handle listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. If the app has a login, prepare a working demo account and live backend, and leave room for fixes and resubmission.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring the essentials to the conversation.
- First releaseList what users must do, in the order they will do it.
- Developer accountsStart registration in your company’s name; organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number.
- Google Play testingCheck whether a new personal account needs a closed test with opted-in testers before release.
- Privacy policyPrepare one that matches the data collected; Apple requires links in the listing and app.
- Third-party toolsIdentify analytics or advertising SDKs so their data collection is covered in Google Play’s Data safety form.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time involved
The scope determines how much design, backend work and testing the app needs.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Screen design
Custom animation, additional languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
Existing systems
A documented API for an existing backend can reduce the work; building a backend and admin panel from scratch adds substantial scope.
User content
An app with user-generated material needs filtering, reporting, blocking and published contact details under Apple’s rules.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Stockport
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The number of user types changes the screens and permissions needed, while offline editing and later syncing add more work than showing previously loaded data. We agree the scope with you before a quote, so set out the users and offline tasks you need.
Which app developer should I hire?
Choose a developer who can explain the whole product and how it will be maintained. Ask who will build the backend and staff panel as well as the phone app, and how staff will look up customers or handle refunds without calling a developer.
What is included in mobile app development?
We build the backend and APIs for accounts, data, notifications and admin tools, as well as supporting in-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores. Analytics and crash reporting belong in the first release, so you can see where people leave a flow and which devices crash.
Will I own the app and its accounts?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep developer accounts, signing access and code repositories in your business’s name too. Accounts held by an agency or freelancer can make the app harder to move when you want someone else to work on it.
What support does an app need after launch?
Plan maintenance releases as well as fixes. Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, while native code changes and new permissions need a store release. Track returning users, drop-off in the main task and the crash-free rate to assess each release.
