What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you choose cross-platform, native or a web app?

React Native is our usual recommendation for an app on iOS and Android. It uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components, so web developers can contribute and some logic can be shared with a React website. The shared codebase reduces the amount of separate platform work, while native modules remain an option where needed.

Native development uses Swift for iPhone and Kotlin for Android. It suits deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features needed at launch, but leaves you with separate codebases to build and maintain. Flutter is another option: it uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded design when your team is prepared to work in that language.

A progressive web app is worth considering for a staff tool. It skips store review, but it will not appear in app stores unless packaged for them; on iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after being added to the Home Screen. Start with the tasks people need to do, then choose the route that supports them.

Local

What Huddersfield businesses need from an app

Huddersfield’s manufacturing and engineering businesses may have staff completing work away from the office. An app for those jobs can collect forms, photos, signatures and location, then sync records when signal returns. Agree what staff need to see and do offline before deciding how the app should handle a lost connection.

For a textile or chemical business in Huddersfield, an app also needs a usable place for staff to manage the information behind it. An admin panel can give them access to customer records and content without calling a developer for each change.

Huddersfield has a university and colleges. Where an organisation offers appointments, an app could bring booking, reminders and payments together, with a staff view of the day’s schedule. That gives both the person booking and the staff member managing the appointment a clear task to complete.

Rules

What a UK app project has to handle

UK data protection law governs personal data, so account details need a clear place in the build. We set up the backend for accounts and data, and link your privacy policy inside the app and in its Apple store listing. The policy needs to describe what the app actually collects. Before launch, you will need to provide that policy and identify the information the app collects, so the account and data setup reflects the product you are releasing.

How it runs

How an app development project runs with us

We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m ahead during British Summer Time. The shared board gives us a place to keep project work visible across the time difference.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the task you want people to complete and the systems the app needs to work with; these shape what goes into the build.

  2. 02

    Design

We prepare iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Review the flows as a user would: how someone starts a task, enters information and completes it.

  3. 03

    Test

You get builds on your own phone through TestFlight on iPhone and Google Play testing tracks on Android. Use them for real tasks and tell us where the screens or flow need attention.

  4. 04

    Release

We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You will need those accounts ready so the app is submitted under your business.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

A few practical details will help us agree what needs building.

  • List your website, CRM, booking system and payment provider; note which have an API and who holds admin access.
  • Start registering Apple and Google developer accounts in your company’s name; organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number.
  • If you plan to use a new personal Google Play account, prepare for a closed test before production release.
  • Identify customers or staff who can try a clickable prototype and give feedback before the screens are built.
  • Note where a notification would be useful, such as after an order, so the permission request has a clear purpose.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timing of an app

The scope determines the work involved in both the build and its release.

  • Backend and admin tools

An existing backend with a documented API reduces the work; building both from scratch can be as large a task as building the app.

  • Offline editing

Showing previously loaded data is less work than accepting edits without signal and resolving conflicts when records sync.

  • User-generated content

Posts or other contributions need filtering, reporting, blocking and published contact details under Apple’s rules.

  • Analytics and advertising tools

Adding an SDK also means checking that the store’s privacy answers cover the data it collects.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Huddersfield

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price. The work grows with each type of user and its screens and permissions, with live features such as chat, and with integrations such as booking systems or payment gateways. Each integration needs setup, testing and handling for failures, so list the ones you need when agreeing the scope.

How do I choose an app development company?

Choose a company that can explain what people will do in the app and how it proposes to build those tasks. Ask what the app offers beyond your existing website. Apple’s guidelines call for more than a repackaged site, so putting a website inside an app shell risks rejection.

Can my app include notifications and payments?

Yes. We build push notifications and support in-app purchases and subscriptions. The checkout needs to match what you sell: Apple and Google Play require their in-app payment systems for digital goods or subscriptions in the app, while physical goods and services need another payment route. Some storefronts or regions permit alternatives.

Who owns the app and its accounts?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repository in your business’s name as well. When those are held in an agency’s or freelancer’s name, moving the app later becomes harder.

What support does an app need after launch?

Plan for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features after release. Google Play also requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air, but native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
