Choosing

Should you choose cross-platform, native or a web app?

For an app built around accounts, forms, lists, bookings, payments or content, a cross-platform build is a practical option: most of the code is shared between iOS and Android. We usually use React Native, with native modules where a feature needs them. If your app needs deep device features, we choose a native build instead. React Native uses JavaScript or TypeScript and renders each platform’s own interface components, so a web development team can contribute and share some logic with a React website.

Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a highly customised design that needs to look the same on both platforms; your team would need to be willing to work in Dart. A progressive web app is worth considering for a staff tool, especially if you want to skip store review. It has limits: it needs packaging to appear in app stores, and on iPhone it can request notification permission only after it is added to the Home Screen.

Local

What Dammam businesses need from an app

Dammam’s petroleum industry includes maintenance work where staff need to record what happened on a job. An app for those teams needs forms, photos, signatures and location details, with records synced to the office when a signal returns. The people doing the work should be able to use those screens out in the field.

Dammam is also an import hub for agricultural products. For shops serving repeat customers, an app can put reordering, loyalty and saved payment details within reach, with a checkout that is quick to use and notifications sent at a useful point.

Dammam’s seaport and cargo terminal are used by organisations that may already have a web platform. Where their customers use that platform frequently, an app can share its backend, accounts and data with the website and admin tools, giving staff and customers access to the same information.

Rules

What a mobile app project in Saudi Arabia has to handle

Arabic is Saudi Arabia’s language. If your customers need Arabic screens, we design and test right-to-left layouts across the app; adding another language affects each screen as well as the testing work.

For online checkout, mada cards can be used through 3D Secure. If you want customers to pay with mada, we set up the payment gateway integration and test the checkout and failure handling as part of the build. Tell us which payment provider you intend to use.

How it runs

How a mobile app project runs with us

We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 2h30m ahead, so the shared board gives you a place to review decisions and leave feedback between calls.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the customer or staff tasks you want the app to support.

  2. 02

    Design

We refine the iOS and Android screens with your feedback before writing code. Put the clickable prototype in front of a few customers or staff and watch where they get stuck.

  3. 03

    Build and test

You receive test builds on your own phone through TestFlight or Google Play’s internal or closed testing tracks. Use them in real situations and share what needs changing.

  4. 04

    Prepare for review

If the app has a login, provide a working demo account and keep the backend live for Apple’s review. Leave room in the launch plan for a fix and resubmission.

  5. 05

    Submit

We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You keep the accounts in your control.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Bring what you have, and we can agree the scope together.

  • First-release tasksList what users must do, in the order they would do it.
  • Existing systemsNote your website, CRM, booking or ERP software and payment provider, their APIs and who holds admin access.
  • Developer accountsRegister Apple and Google accounts in the company’s name; organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
  • TestersA new personal Google Play developer account needs a closed test with opted-in testers before production release.
  • MeasurementsDecide which screens and drop-off points you want analytics and crash reporting to show in the first release.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and time of app development

The scope determines the work involved. These decisions change what needs to be designed, built and tested.

  • User types

Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.

  • Real-time features

Live tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.

  • Existing backend

A documented API reduces the work; a new backend and admin panel can be as large a job as the app.

  • Offline work

Showing last-loaded data is a smaller task than allowing offline edits and resolving conflicts when records sync.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with mobile app development

  • Asking for notifications too early

Request permission when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.

  • Overlooking account deletion

If people can create accounts, give them an in-app route to start deletion. Google Play also requires a web link for deletion requests and deletion of associated data.

  • Adding an SDK without updating privacy answers

Check what analytics or advertising tools collect and include third-party SDK data in Google Play’s Data safety form.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Dammam

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price: the screen flows, the choice of platform and the payment or subscription features all affect the work. A useful first conversation sets out what people need to do in the app and which features belong in the first release. Once we agree the scope, ask us for a quote.

How do I choose an app development company?

Ask how the studio will give people a reason to use the app and how it will handle sign-in. Apple’s guidelines say an app should offer more than a repackaged website, and apps without significant account-based features should let people use them without logging in. Discuss both points before agreeing the build.

How are payments handled in an app?

The payment route depends on what you sell. Apple requires in-app purchase for digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app; physical goods and services used outside the app must use another method, such as a card gateway. We support in-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

What is included beyond the app screens?

Plan for a backend and an admin panel as well as the app on the phone. Staff need tools to edit content, look up customers, issue refunds and block abusive accounts. We also set up targeted push notifications and handle the store listings, submission and release.

Who owns the app and the store accounts?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Store listings are submitted under your own developer accounts, so those accounts stay with your business. Set them up in the company’s name and make sure the people responsible for the app have the access they need.

What support does the app need after launch?

Plan for bug fixes, operating system updates and new features after release. Google Play also requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air, but native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
