Choosing
Which platform should you choose?
Shopify suits a store that wants hosting, security, checkout and platform updates handled for it. You can add features through apps, though their subscriptions add ongoing costs, and deeper checkout changes are limited to the Shopify Plus plan. It is the simplest option to run when its standard checkout fits your operation.
WooCommerce suits a business already using WordPress, especially if content is a large part of the site. You get control over the code, data and hosting, but someone must look after hosting, security, updates and plugin compatibility. That responsibility needs an owner after launch.
A custom or headless storefront, such as Next.js connected to a commerce back end, fits an unusual catalogue, a product configurator or a content-led brand. It takes more build effort, and most later changes need a developer. We recommend an approach after understanding your products and operations, including the work your team needs to do in the store admin.
Local
What Dammam businesses need from an online store
Dammam’s economy relies on the petroleum industry. A distributor serving that sector may need an ordering area with customer-specific prices, minimum quantities and quote requests, alongside an admin where staff can manage the catalogue and orders. Those requirements should shape the store structure before product pages are designed.
Dammam is also an import hub for agricultural products, beef and dairy cattle. An importer selling products through social media or messaging needs a catalogue and a way to track orders without handling each request by hand. Delivery settings need to reflect the products and areas served, including restrictions for items that cannot be sent to certain locations.
Rules
What your store needs to handle in Saudi Arabia
Mada cards can be used for online purchases through 3D Secure. We set up a supported payment gateway and check the available card methods against your business registration, selling currencies and platform. Gateway selection also needs to account for refunds, disputes and settlement.
Your store needs to disclose the seller’s identifying details, address and contact information, plus the commercial registration name and number where applicable. We include space for those details in the store’s pages, so you can supply the information that applies to your business.
How it runs
How an e-commerce project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 2h30m ahead, so the shared board gives you a place to review progress and leave feedback between calls.

- 02
Design
We prepare product, collection and checkout designs for desktop and mobile. You review the screens and give feedback before any code is written.
- 03
Catalogue
We import a small sample first. You check its titles, variants, prices and images; once the format is right, we import the full catalogue.
- 04
Build and test
We build the store and test it on real devices and browsers. Your team can review how the editable store works as the build takes shape.
- 05
Launch and care
We set up the domain, email, analytics and search, then provide ongoing support. You keep access to the store for your day-to-day work.

Cost & time
What affects the cost and time of development
The work changes with the catalogue, the design and the systems your store needs.
Catalogue complexity
Variants, bundles, engraving and products sold by weight or length need more setup than straightforward listings.
Product data
A clean spreadsheet is easier to import than information spread across an old store, supplier files and chat threads.
Design
Adapting a theme takes less work than a custom design for unusual products or a distinct brand.
Migration
Moving customers, order history, reviews and redirects adds scope beyond moving products alone.
Checkout and markets
Wholesale pricing, delivery choices and additional currencies or languages add configuration work.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with your store
Losing old page addresses
Map old product and category URLs to their closest new pages and use permanent redirects, including for products you no longer sell.
Testing only in a sandbox
Place a real low-value order using live payment settings, then refund it. Check the order email and payment configuration.
Letting order emails reach spam
Set up SPF or DKIM authentication for the sending domain.
Adding an app for every small feature
Review what each app does and remove unused ones to limit scripts, clutter and possible conflicts.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Dammam
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does an e-commerce website cost?
There is no fixed price. The scope depends on things such as configurable products with uploads or price rules, subscriptions and the connections your store needs to accounting or other systems. We first agree what the store needs to do, so the quote reflects that scope.
Should I sell through a marketplace or my own store?
An own store gives you control of customer data and margin, while a marketplace brings traffic but sets its own rules and keeps the customer relationship. You can run both. If you do, plan how stock will stay in sync so the same inventory is reflected across your sales channels.
What order emails are included in a store build?
The store can send order confirmations, dispatch messages with tracking links, refunds, abandoned-cart messages and password resets. Each needs your branding, a sender address on your store’s domain and wording that matches your actual policies. We also test how customer emails and stock records update through different payment outcomes.
Can you move my existing store?
Yes. We can migrate products, customers and order history where the platforms allow it. The existing and destination platforms determine what can be transferred, so include the records you need in the scope discussion rather than assuming every part of the old store will move.
Who owns the store after launch?
You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in to the team that built the store. When we connect tools such as accounting or email, keep access to those accounts with your business too. That gives your team control of the assets used to run the store.
What should we check after launch?
Retest the full checkout after an app, plugin or theme change, and give staff separate logins with only the permissions they need. Track checkout drop-off, repeat purchases and product-page speed against your figures from before launch or migration, so your team can see where to investigate.
