Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
For an app built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments or content, a shared codebase is often a practical fit. We usually build with React Native for iOS and Android, adding native modules where a feature needs them. Its JavaScript or TypeScript code renders each platform’s own interface components, and some logic can be shared with a React web app.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded product where you want screens to look identical across platforms. The trade-off is that your team needs to be comfortable working in Dart.
Native development in Swift and Kotlin fits an app built around deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. It also leaves you with separate codebases to build and maintain. Start with the features your customers need, then choose the approach that supports them and suits the code your business will maintain.

What Charlotte businesses need from an app
Banking and financial services are part of Charlotte’s business landscape. If your customers already use your web platform frequently, an app that shares their existing accounts and data gives them a familiar way to use it on a phone.
Charlotte’s motorsports sector includes opportunities for businesses selling to repeat customers. A shop serving that audience could focus its app on reordering, saved payment details and a fast checkout, with notifications timed around a useful customer action.
Charlotte has attractions and venues where a booking flow could help customers arrange a visit. For an organisation offering appointments or scheduled activities, the app scope can include reminders and payments, alongside a staff view of the day’s schedule.
Rules
How payments shape a US app project
What you sell shapes the checkout. For physical goods and services used outside the app, we set up a card gateway such as Stripe, which businesses in the United States can use to accept payments. For digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app, we set up in-app purchases under Apple’s rules. Some storefronts permit links to outside payment options, so tell us what customers will pay for when we agree the payment flow.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time; the shared board gives you a place to review work and leave feedback across that difference.

Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals. You tell us what the app needs to do, and we agree the scope together.
- 02
Design
We create screens for iOS and Android and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Tell us where a flow needs to change.
- 03
Review the prototype
Put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Their feedback helps you change screens before they are built.
- 04
Test on your phone
We share test builds through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks, so you can try the app in real use and report what needs attention.
- 05
Submit to the stores
We handle the listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You keep control of the accounts used for release.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
If your app needs to share accounts or data with your website, bring details of the existing setup.
- Developer accountsStart registering them in your company’s name; organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number.
- Connected systemsList your booking software, CRM or payment provider, note available APIs and identify who has admin access.
- Privacy policyPrepare a policy that matches the data collected, for the app and its store listing.
- TestersNew personal Google Play accounts need a closed test before production release, so identify people who can take part.
- MeasurementDecide which screens and drop-off points you want to examine, alongside crash reports.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing of app development
Live updates need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even with a shared backend.
Offline work
Showing previously loaded data is less involved than editing records offline and resolving conflicts when they sync.
Notifications
A sending service, audience rules and settings for notification categories all need to be planned.
User content
Posts or other contributions need moderation tools, including reporting, blocking and filtering objectionable material.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with app development
Wrapping your website in an app shell
Give people a useful app experience beyond the existing site; a repackaged website risks rejection by Apple.
Requesting notification permission immediately
Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.
Adding an analytics or advertising SDK without revisiting privacy answers: Update the Google Play Data safety form to cover data collected by third-party SDKs in the app.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Charlotte
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have an app developed?
There is no fixed price for every app. The work depends heavily on the systems it must connect to and on whether an existing backend has a documented API. A payment gateway or booking integration needs setup, testing and failure handling; a new backend and admin panel also add substantial work.
How do I choose an app development company?
Choose a team whose proposed approach fits the features you need and whose plan gives you a way to assess use after release. Ask how it chooses between React Native and native development, then discuss how you will measure returning users and where people leave the main task.
What is included beyond the app screens?
The app may need a backend for accounts and data, plus an admin panel for your staff. Agree what your staff should be able to do there: editing content, looking up customers, issuing refunds and blocking abusive accounts are examples of tasks that should not require a developer.
Will I own the app code and accounts?
You own your code, domain and content when you work with us, with no lock-in. Keep your developer accounts, signing access and code repository in your business’s name too. Accounts held in an agency’s or freelancer’s name can make the app difficult to move later.
What happens after the app launches?
Launch is followed by support for bug fixes, platform updates and new features. Plan maintenance releases as well: Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, and an out-of-date app can become unavailable to new users on newer devices.
Does an app need an account deletion option?
Yes, if people can create an account in the app. Apple requires them to be able to start deleting it inside the app; deactivation alone is insufficient. Google Play also requires an in-app path to delete the account and associated data, plus a web link for deletion requests.
