Choosing
Which platform should you choose?
Shopify is the simplest option to run when you want the platform to handle hosting, security, checkout and updates. You can add features through apps, though those can bring recurring subscriptions. Deeper checkout changes are limited to the Shopify Plus plan, so check your checkout requirements before choosing it.
WooCommerce suits a business already using WordPress, especially when the store sits alongside a substantial amount of content. It gives you control over code, data and hosting. That control comes with work: someone needs to manage hosting, updates, security and compatibility between plugins.
A custom or headless storefront, such as Next.js connected to a commerce back end, fits unusual catalogues, product configurators and brands whose content shapes the shopping experience. It takes more build effort, and most later changes need a developer. We recommend a platform after understanding your products and operations, including how your team will manage the store after launch.
Local
What Goa businesses need from an online store
Tourism is Goa's primary industry. A retailer serving visitors who also wants to sell online needs a clear way to keep shop and website stock aligned. We can connect the store to the shop's till system and include a click-and-collect option, so the online catalogue fits the way the physical shop operates.
Manufacturers in Goa include textile and other medium-scale businesses. A distributor selling to trade customers may need customer-specific prices, minimum order quantities and quote requests. We connect accounting or ERP tools where those orders and stock need to move between systems.
Agriculture also provides part-time employment in Goa. A grower selling products online needs the catalogue to reflect the choices customers can order, while a maker offering made-to-order goods may need uploads, previews or pricing rules beyond ordinary product variants.
Rules
What an ecommerce project in India has to handle
India's e-commerce rules require the store to display the entity's legal name, principal geographic address, website details, customer care contacts and grievance officer details prominently. We provide space for those details in the storefront, and you supply the information for your business.
GST treatment differs for supplies within a state or union territory and supplies between them. We configure tax settings in the store after you decide which taxes apply to your products and whether prices include them; check those decisions with your accountant.
How it runs
How an ecommerce development project runs with us
We work remotely with you from India, using video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board. You can review the work and discuss decisions without needing to meet in person.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the products, operations and concerns you want the store to cover, so those decisions are made before design begins.
- 02
Design
We prepare product, collection and checkout page designs for desktop and mobile. You review them and give feedback; we refine the screens before writing code, so you can see how customers will move through the store.
- 03
Import
We put in a small product sample first. You check the titles, variants, prices and images, and once the format is right, we import the full catalogue. That gives you a chance to catch a template problem before it reaches every product.
- 04
Test
Before launch, you place test orders across payment methods, shipping zones, discounts and tax cases. Check the stock levels, order emails and the way each order appears in the store admin, then bring any issues back to us.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather these details so we can discuss the store and its practical requirements.
- Product photosKeep original files, several angles and an image for each colour variant.
- Gateway documentsGather business registration, bank and identity details; apply in the business's own name.
- Account accessFind the domain, website, email, analytics and Google logins held in your business's name.
- PoliciesPrepare plain-language shipping, returns, refund, privacy and terms information.
- Order emailsDecide on branding and wording that matches your policies, with a sender on your own domain.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time needed
The work depends on what has to be organised, connected and configured.
Catalogue structure
Categories, filters and variants need decisions about attributes, prices, stock and images before products can be organised.
Product data
A clean spreadsheet is simpler to import than details scattered across an old store, supplier PDFs and photo threads.
Integrations
An order export to accounting is smaller in scope than stock and price synchronisation with an ERP or several marketplaces.
Delivery rules
Zones, weight-based rates, pickup and restrictions for products that cannot ship to certain areas each need to be configured.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid before launch
Testing only in sandbox mode
Place a real low-value order with live payment settings and refund it to check webhooks, currency settings and emails.
Showing delivery charges too late
Put delivery and tax estimates on product or cart pages, before the final checkout step.
Overloading product pages
Compress oversized images and load review, chat and tracking scripts only where they are needed.
Sending unauthenticated order emails
Set up SPF or DKIM for the sending domain so messages are less likely to land in spam.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Goa
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does an ecommerce website cost to develop?
There is no fixed price. The size and complexity of your catalogue, including variants or products sold by weight, affect the work. Custom pricing and checkout rules also change the scope, as do additional markets with their own currencies, languages and tax settings. We can discuss a quote once the scope is agreed.
Should I sell through a marketplace or my own store?
The choice depends on how you want to reach and manage customers. A marketplace brings ready traffic, but sets the rules and keeps the customer relationship. Your own store keeps customer data and margin, while you need to attract visitors. You can also run both and sync stock.
Can you move my existing store?
Yes. We can migrate products, customers and order history where the platforms allow it. Decide whether the move also needs reviews, gift cards and URL redirects. Customer passwords usually cannot move between platforms, so plan a reset email for existing customers as part of the migration.
Who owns the store after it is built?
You own your domain, content and code. That means you are not locked to the team that built the store. Keep track of those assets as part of your store handover, so your business retains control of the material and code it owns.
What happens after the store launches?
We set up the domain, email, analytics and search at launch, followed by ongoing support. Use your earlier figures to compare conversion rate, checkout drop-off and product-page speed. After an app, plugin or theme change, retest the full checkout and give staff separate logins with only the permissions they need.
Which payment gateways can you set up?
We support Stripe, Razorpay, PayPal and local gateways, subject to your country and platform. Choose by looking at where your business is registered, the currencies you sell in and the payment methods you need. We then test paid, failed, cancelled and refunded orders against stock, order records and customer emails.
