This app icon generator takes one square master image and produces every launcher icon an iOS or Android app needs, named and sorted into folders, in a single zip. It creates 13 iOS sizes from 20 to 1024 pixels, five Android densities from mdpi at 48 pixels to xxxhdpi at 192, and the 512-pixel Play Store icon. iOS icons can be flattened onto a background colour, since the App Store rejects transparency, and optional padding shrinks the artwork inside the frame. Everything is drawn on your device.
How to use it
- Export your icon as a square PNG at 1024 × 1024 pixels with square corners. A sample icon is loaded to start.
- Check that the Shape and Resolution badges both show green.
- Leave "Flatten transparency" on and pick the iOS background colour.
- Add padding if the artwork touches the edges and gets clipped by the mask.
- Download the zip and copy the folders into your Xcode and Android projects.
How to read the result
The three badges check the source. Source shows the dimensions and file size you uploaded. Shape must read Square, or the icons will be stretched. Resolution should read 1024 or more; a smaller master is scaled up for the largest icons and looks soft.
The preview shows four sizes at half scale with a rounded mask like the home screen: iOS 180 and 60, Android 192 and 48. The small ones matter most. Fine text or thin lines that read well at 1024 pixels often vanish at 48.
For example, a 1024 × 1024 PNG with a transparent background and a white logo produces a zip with 19 files. Thirteen sit in the ios folder, named from AppIcon-20.png to AppIcon-1024.png and flattened onto your chosen colour. Five sit in the Android mipmap density folders as ic_launcher.png, with the transparency kept. The last is playstore-icon-512.png, flattened. If the iOS preview shows the logo on a colour you did not expect, change the background colour before downloading.

Questions
Frequently asked.
Does Xcode still need every size?
Since Xcode 14 you can supply a single 1024 by 1024 icon and let Xcode generate the rest, which suits most apps. The full set is still useful for older projects, for apps that support older iOS versions, and when you want to check the smallest sizes so details stay legible at 20 and 29 points.
What about Android adaptive icons?
The zip contains the classic launcher PNGs for each density, which every Android version can use. Adaptive icons, introduced in Android 8, need separate foreground and background layers with a safe zone. Build those in Android Studio's Image Asset tool from the same master artwork, and keep these PNGs as the fallback.
Why does the App Store reject my icon?
The most common reason is transparency. App Store icons must be fully opaque, so leave "Flatten transparency" ticked and choose a background colour. Also avoid rounding the corners yourself: iOS applies its own mask, and pre-rounded artwork ends up with odd corners once the mask is applied.
