What it does

An add to calendar link generator turns one event into links that open a pre-filled event in Google Calendar, Outlook.com and Microsoft 365, plus an .ics file for Apple Calendar and everything else. The visitor clicks, checks the details and saves; nothing is sent from your site. The generator takes care of the date formats each service expects, the escaping rules in .ics files and the time zone name Google needs, which are the three places hand-written links usually go wrong.

How to use it

  1. Enter the event title, start and end. Tick "All-day" for events without a time.
  2. Add the location, which can be a meeting link, and a short description.
  3. Check the status badge; it turns red if the end is before the start.
  4. Copy each link into a button on your event page, and download the .ics file to host alongside them.

How to read the result

Each row in the table is a full URL. The Google link is calendar.google.com/calendar/render with action=TEMPLATE, the title as text, dates=20261110T100000/20261110T110000 and ctz=Asia/Kolkata; the slashes appear as %2F in the copied link. The dates part is start and end in local time, and ctz names the zone, so a reader in Dubai sees the event at 8:30 their time.

The Outlook links use startdt and enddt in UTC: an event at 10:00 in Kolkata is written as 2026-11-10T04:30:00.000Z. That is correct, not a bug; Outlook converts it back when it opens.

The .ics preview shows the file that will download. DTSTART and DTEND carry the same UTC stamps, and commas, semicolons and line breaks in the description are escaped with backslashes as the format requires. All-day events switch to VALUE=DATE with an end date one day after the last day, which is how the standard expresses inclusive ranges.

Print the event on a poster with a QR code pointing at the Google link. Event pages with working calendar buttons and sign-up forms are a regular part of our website design and development projects.

Questions

Frequently asked.

Which link should I use for Apple Calendar?

The .ics file. Apple Calendar on Mac and iPhone has no web link format, but opens .ics files directly, as do Thunderbird and most desktop clients. Host the file on your site and link to it as "Apple / other", next to the Google and Outlook links.

How are time zones handled?

Times you enter are read in your browser's time zone, shown under the form. The Google link carries that zone name so the event lands at the right local time for everyone. The Outlook link and the .ics file store the time in UTC, which calendars convert on the way in.

Can I make a recurring event?

Not with these links. Google and Outlook ignore recurrence rules in URL parameters, and the generator keeps the .ics to a single event so it behaves the same everywhere. Create the series in your own calendar and share an invitation if you need repeats.
