Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugins offer plenty of choice, though someone needs to keep them updated. A custom Next.js site is faster and more secure, and it can still include an editor. Think about who will make changes and how often before choosing.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that you want to run yourself. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. A custom design fits a more specific brand or audience; an adapted template can suit a simple brief when it is reworked around your actual content.
A headless setup combines a custom front end with a separate editor. It suits heavy editing where speed is also a priority, with more components to host and maintain. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works.
Local
What Torquay organisations need from their websites
Torquay has tourist attractions, including Kents Cavern. An attraction’s website needs clear visitor information and a contact route that works on a phone. We set up contact forms and click-to-call, so visitors can choose how to get in touch. Before design starts, decide which questions the site should answer and which enquiries need a response from your team.
Torquay also has secondary schools. A school website needs a practical way to keep news and pages current, as well as a clear route for enquiries. We provide an editor your team can use without training and route form messages to the right inbox.
Rules
What your UK website needs to handle
If you run a UK limited company, your website must show its registered number, registered office address, place of registration and limited-company status. We include space for those details in the build. Have the correct information ready for the pages before launch.
Website services must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and use it to guide the pages we build. WCAG provides levels for that target, and the W3C encourages using its latest version.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m during British Summer Time. Shared boards keep feedback and decisions visible across the time difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We agree the scope with you, including what the site needs to achieve.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes showing what goes on each page and in what order. Your feedback here should focus on content and priorities; colours come later.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in clean code or with a content management system your team can edit, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check
You proofread every page, submit each form once and confirm who receives its messages. This catches small errors before visitors see them.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather what you have and flag the gaps.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS format, plus brand colours and fonts, or a note that these still need creating.
- A ranked list of services or products, so the navigation can reflect your priorities.
- Websites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work; book photography ahead if you need it.
- A folder of case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships.
Cost & time
What affects website cost and delivery
The scope and readiness of your materials determine the work involved.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template need less.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish reduce the work, while writing, photography or translation adds to it.
Migration
Moving old news, blog posts and downloadable files adds transfer and checking work.
Brand assets
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding colours, typefaces and a logo during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Torquay
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price for every project. The work changes with the specificity of the design, the content you need to gather and any separate systems that need hosting and maintenance. Once we agree the scope, ask us for a quote; decide who will supply service descriptions, case studies and photos before then.
How do I choose the right platform?
Start with who will update the site and how often. WordPress gives your team full editing control, while a custom Next.js build offers a different development route. Tell us which pages you expect to change, who will make those changes and what control they need before settling on a platform.
What is included in the design work?
We prepare a sitemap, wireframes and page designs for desktop and mobile, then refine them with your feedback. We can also build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, preparing brand assets for the web where needed. Bring the assets you already use so we can see what is ready.
Will I own my website?
Yes. You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep a record of the domain and the people who manage its details within your business. That gives your team a clear point of responsibility alongside the website content and code you own.
What happens after the website launches?
We provide ongoing support after launch. Your team should also decide who will keep news, projects and job posts current. In analytics, you can track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages those enquiries started from.
