Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Plugins offer a wide choice of features, though the site needs regular updates to stay secure. A custom Next.js site suits a brief where the brand, content or audience calls for a more specific design. It can still have an editor, and our service page describes it as faster and more secure.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run alone. You trade some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. A headless setup gives you a custom front end and a separate editor; it fits heavier editing needs, though there are more parts to host and maintain.
Start with your editing needs. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works, so the choice reflects who will maintain the pages as well as what visitors see.
Local
What Swindon's organisations need from a website
Swindon has manufacturing and engineering employers, including BMW/Mini and engineering consultancy Halcrow. A manufacturer or supplier serving business buyers needs capability and product pages that make its work clear, with certifications and downloadable specifications where relevant. Its quote form should ask for enough detail to let the right person respond properly.
New College and Swindon College serve further and higher education needs. For a college website, page structure and enquiries need attention: people need to find the relevant information and know where to send a question. Agree who receives each form message and what the confirmation says, so enquiries reach the right inbox.
Rules
What a UK website needs to handle
If your business is a UK limited company, its website must show its registered number, registered office address, place of registration and limited-company status. We make space for those details in the site build, so you can supply and check the information before launch.
Organisations providing services through a website must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and use it to guide the work. WCAG provides levels for its success criteria, and the W3C encourages using the latest version.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m during British Summer Time; the shared board keeps feedback and project work visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan the pages
We make wireframes before visual design. Review the content and its order at this stage, leaving decisions about colours until later.
- 03
Design
We prepare page designs for desktop and mobile, then refine them with your feedback. Check that the pages reflect the priorities you discussed with us.
- 04
Build and check
We build with code or an editable CMS and test on real devices and browsers. You proofread the pages, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the setup so you know where to find it.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Content takes preparation, so decide who will gather and write it early.
- A ranked list of services or products for the home page and navigation.
- Your logo in vector format, brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work; arrange a photo shoot ahead if needed.
- Your main goal, such as quote requests or job applications, and who handles each enquiry.
- Examples of websites you like and dislike, with a reason for each choice.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline?
The scope changes the design, build and checking work involved.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template need less of that work.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller than adding copywriting, photography or translation.
Migration
Moving an archive of news, posts or downloadable files adds work to transfer and check it.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Swindon
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to get a website built?
There is no fixed price: the scope determines the work. Preparing real content early reduces the chance of layouts needing changes, while building search setup into the site takes less effort than fixing it later. Once we have agreed the scope, ask us for a quote covering the work.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. When you review the page designs, check them on a phone as well as a large screen, so you can see how the brand and content appear to mobile visitors.
What is included in the website build?
The build includes an editor for pages, news, projects and careers, along with page metadata, structured data, sitemaps and fast loading. Search setup also needs checking before launch: an indexing block left over from development can keep a new site out of search results.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep track of the login details for your domain registrar, hosting, email provider, analytics and Search Console, or record the person who holds them, so your team knows where to find the accounts after handover.
What should we do after launch?
Give someone responsibility for keeping news, projects and job posts current. Use analytics to track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, and check which pages they started from. We set up analytics at launch and give your team a walkthrough of the setup.
