Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of its own site. It has a large choice of plugins, though someone needs to keep them updated for security. A custom Next.js site is faster and more secure, and it can still include an editor for your content.
A custom design fits when your brand, content or audience calls for something specific. An adapted template can suit a simple site with a tight brief, provided the design is reworked around your actual content. A headless setup offers a custom front end with a separate editor; it suits heavy editing alongside a need for speed, but adds moving parts to host and maintain.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run alone. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works.
Local
What Reading businesses need from a website
Reading has information technology and insurance businesses with different things to explain to prospective customers. A technology supplier may need capability or product pages, certifications and downloadable specifications, with a quote form that collects enough detail for a useful reply. An insurance firm can give buyers clear service pages and profiles that help them assess expertise before getting in touch.
Reading is also a regional retail centre. A retailer handling enquiries through its website needs to decide who receives each message and what the visitor sees after sending it. We can plan the form confirmation alongside mobile contact options, so a shopper has a clear way to get in touch.
Rules
What a UK website project has to handle
If yours is a UK limited company, your website must show its registered number, registered office address, place of registration and limited company status. We make space for those details in the build, ready for you to supply and check.
Service websites also need reasonable adjustments for disabled people. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and set up a clear heading structure; the target guides the design and build. WCAG provides levels A, AA and AAA, and the W3C encourages use of the latest version.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m ahead during British Summer Time. The shared board keeps feedback and decisions visible across that difference.

Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do on the site. We learn about your goals and agree the scope with you.
- 02
Structure
We prepare wireframes before the visual design. You review what goes on each page and its order, so content and priorities are settled before colours.
- 03
Design
We create the sitemap and page designs for desktop and mobile, then refine them with your feedback.
- 04
Build and test
We build with code or a content management system your team can edit, and test on real devices and browsers. You review the working pages.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, and note what still needs arranging.
- A list of services or products, ranked by business priority.
- Your logo in vector format, plus brand colours and fonts.
- Examples of websites you like and dislike, with a reason for each.
- Photos of your team, premises and finished work, or a plan to arrange them.
- Your main goal for the site and who will handle each type of enquiry.
- Access details for the domain, hosting, email and existing measurement tools, or the name of the person who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The scope determines how much design, build and checking work the project needs.
Page scope
The sitemap, page structure, editor, forms and launch tasks all need an owner and add work to plan and complete.
Features
Booking, member logins, calculators, multiple languages or a CRM connection add design, development and testing work.
Existing content
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files means migration and checks on the new site.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with a project where colours, typefaces and the logo are still being decided.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Reading
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is a website still worth investing in?
A website is worth considering when it gives people a clear way to enquire and gives you a way to assess those enquiries. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics, then check which pages they started from. That gives you something practical to review after launch.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. Copywriting, photography and translation can each add to the scope, while content supplied ready to publish keeps the work smaller. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed, so you can see what the proposed work covers.
Will my team be able to update the website?
Yes. We provide an editor for pages, news, projects and careers that your team can use without training. Before launch, decide who will keep those sections current: an old news or jobs page can leave visitors wondering whether your company is still trading.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Your business should also hold its domain and hosting accounts and grant access to the people working on the site. That keeps control of the accounts with you when you need changes later.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We work with your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Bring real headings and paragraphs into the design early: their lengths affect the layout, and placeholder text can make a page look finished before the content fits.
