Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
Start with the editing work. WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to manage most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins gives you options for extending the site, but someone needs to keep it updated for security. We use WordPress when your team needs full editing control.
A custom Next.js website is faster and more secure, and it can still have an editor. That gives your team a way to update content without making WordPress the basis of the whole site. We recommend an approach after learning how your team works and how it expects to manage the website.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow fits a small site that an owner wants to run alone. The trade-off is less control over code and speed. If you decide to move away later, the site may need a rebuild, so consider how much control you want before choosing.
Local
What Slough organisations need from a website
Slough Trading Estate has over 17,000 jobs across 400 businesses. For a manufacturer or B2B supplier there, useful pages explain capabilities or products and make certifications and specifications available to download. A quote form should ask for enough detail for the right person to respond. A construction or engineering firm needs a project portfolio with photos and details that prospective clients can assess.
Slough's economy has shifted from manufacturing to information-based activity. A professional services firm needs separate service and partner pages so potential clients can check expertise before calling. A startup launching a product needs a plain explanation of what it does, alongside a way to join a waitlist or book a demo.
Rules
What a UK website project needs to handle
If you run a UK limited company, your website must show its registered number, registered office address, place of registration and limited company status. We set up a page for those details as part of the build. Provide the information for us to publish.
Services provided through a website must make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and build the page structure around it. WCAG has A, AA and AAA levels; the W3C encourages using its latest version.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 5h30m ahead, or 4h30m during British Summer Time, from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. The shared board keeps project work visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do on the site. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Design
We prepare wireframes and page designs for desktop and mobile. You review them and give feedback before we refine the designs.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in clean code or an editable CMS, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check
You proofread each page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. This catches small errors before visitors encounter them.
- 05
Launch and care
We set up the domain, email, analytics and search tools, walk your team through the site and provide ongoing support.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather proof of your work in a folder, including case studies, testimonials and client logos you have permission to show.
- Your logo in vector format, brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- A ranked list of services or products, so the navigation reflects what you most want to sell.
- Websites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Real photos of your team, premises and completed work; arrange a photo shoot ahead if needed.
- A clear goal, such as quote requests or calls, and the person responsible for handling each enquiry.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
Start by deciding who will update the website and how often; their editing needs help define the scope.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build work than pages that share the same template.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design, build and testing work.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; writing, photography or translation add work.
Migration
Moving old blog posts, news archives and downloadable files means transferring and checking more content.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Slough
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope depends on how much custom design you need, whether brand assets need preparation for the web, and what the build includes, such as an editor and forms. We send a free quote once we have agreed the scope with you.
Could we have a custom site with a separate content editor?
Yes. A headless setup pairs a custom front end with a separate content editor. It suits a site that needs speed alongside substantial editing, but it introduces more moving parts to host and maintain. Consider who will be responsible for that maintenance when weighing up the setup.
What should be included in the website?
Include the pages your visitors need and an editor your team can use. We provide an editor for pages, news, projects and careers. Avoid copying every page from an old site automatically: a shorter set of clear service pages is easier to scan and keep current.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Once the site is live, use analytics to track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages those enquiries started from. That gives you a practical way to assess the site.
What happens after the website launches?
We provide a launch walkthrough for your team, alongside the domain, email, analytics and Search Console setup. Decide who will update news, projects and job posts after launch. Keeping those sections current helps visitors see that your business is active.
