Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugin selection gives you options for adding features, but someone needs to keep the installation and plugins updated. Decide who will take responsibility for that work before choosing the platform.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a design that needs freedom from template limits, with fast pages and tight security. Structural changes generally need a developer. A headless setup adds a separate content editor to a custom front end, which helps when you need both speed and frequent editing, though there are more parts to host and maintain.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run on your own. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. We learn how your team works before recommending WordPress or a custom Next.js build, so the editing routine is part of the decision.
Local
What Port Saint Lucie organisations need from their websites
St. Lucie County Public Schools serves the city. An organisation serving schools needs a clear page structure so visitors can find the information they came for, alongside a content editor and forms that put enquiries in the right place. Those pieces need owners from the start, including someone responsible for keeping page content current.
Indian River State College and Keiser University are located in Port Saint Lucie. Education organisations need an editor for news and careers pages and a clear plan for enquiry handling: who receives each message, what the confirmation says and how visitors contact the organisation from a phone.
Rules
What a US website project needs to handle
For businesses open to the public, ADA Title III covers the goods and services offered on the web. WCAG provides helpful guidance. We agree an accessibility target in your brief and use it to guide the page design and testing plan.
State and local government websites have a specific requirement to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. For that kind of project, we set that level as the target in the brief so the requirement is part of the work from the outset.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback for the team across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do on the site. We agree the scope with you and use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes showing what goes on each page and in what order. Review the content and priorities before moving on to colours.
- 03
Design
We create desktop and mobile page designs and refine them with your feedback. Check the pages on a phone as well as a larger screen.
- 04
Build
We develop the site in clean code or a CMS your team can edit, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site. You speak directly with the people designing and building it.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather these items to make the first discussion useful.
- Rank your services or products by business priority.
- Choose a goal, such as quote requests, and name the person handling enquiries.
- Collect real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Gather case studies, testimonials and client logos you have permission to show.
- Find account logins, or identify who holds them, for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console.
- Bring examples of websites you like and dislike, with a reason for each choice.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The work involved depends on what the site needs and what you already have ready.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build work than pages sharing a template.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections add design, build and testing work.
Content
Ready-to-publish copy and photos keep the scope smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add work.
Brand
An existing logo and style guide need less design effort than a brand whose colours and typefaces are still being decided.
Content gathering
Service descriptions, team bios, case studies and photos take time to collect, so agree early who will supply them.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Port Saint Lucie
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website designed and built?
There is no fixed price. The scope of the page designs, the forms you need and the readiness of your brand assets all affect the work. We send you a free quote once the scope is agreed. If you have an existing logo, colours and fonts, we can prepare those assets for use on the web.
Can a custom website still have an editor?
Yes. A custom Next.js site can include an editor, while WordPress suits teams that want to make frequent content changes themselves. Before settling on either option, identify the person who will make updates and how often they expect to do them; that gives us a practical basis for the recommendation.
What is included in the website build?
The build can use Next.js or WordPress, with launch setup and a walkthrough for your team. We also set up analytics so you can track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions and check which pages those enquiries started from. Agreeing what you want to measure helps shape that setup.
Will I own my website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Hold the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That keeps control of those accounts with you when you need to make changes or work with another provider.
What happens after the website launches?
We provide ongoing support after launch. You should also decide who on your team will update news, project and job posts. A site with an old newest post can leave visitors wondering whether the business is still trading, so assign that responsibility before the handover.
