Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
Start with who will update the site. WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the website itself. Its plugins offer plenty of choices, though the site needs regular updates to stay secure. Before choosing, list the pages and posts your team expects to change, and who will take responsibility for those updates.
A custom-coded Next.js site suits you if you want fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. You can still have an editor, but structural changes are suited to a developer. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works and what it needs to edit.
Wix, Squarespace and Webflow suit a small site that an owner wants to run alone. The trade-off is less control over code and speed; moving to another platform later can mean rebuilding. Think about both the updates you want to make yourself and the control you want to keep.
Local
What Pittsburgh organisations need from their websites
Pittsburgh’s technology and finance sectors include teams with different things to explain. A product startup needs a plain description of what it offers and a way to join a waitlist or book a demo. An accounting or consulting practice needs service and partner pages that let a prospective client check expertise and credentials before making contact.
The city is home to large medical providers, and an appointment-based practice needs visitors to find services, practitioner profiles and opening hours without hunting through the site. A booking or call option should work on a phone. Pittsburgh also has large law firms: clear service and partner pages give prospective clients useful detail when deciding whom to contact.
Rules
Accessibility in a US website project
US guidance says the ADA covers the goods and services that businesses open to the public offer on the web, and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. We agree an accessibility target with you in the brief and set up the desktop and mobile page designs around it. WCAG has A, AA and AAA levels, so the target gives the project a basis for its accessibility work from the start.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board keeps the work and feedback visible across that difference.

Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do on the site. We use that to agree the scope and shape the sitemap.
- 02
Design
We prepare the sitemap, wireframes and page designs for desktop and mobile. You review them and give feedback before we refine the designs.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in clean code or a CMS your team can edit, then test it on real devices and browsers. You can review the working pages.
- 04
Launch
Proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, and note anything still to collect.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS, plus brand colours and fonts.
- A ranked list of the services or products you want to feature.
- The site’s main goal and the person who handles each type of enquiry.
- Case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships in a folder.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work, or plans for a photo shoot.
- Account details for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or the name of the person who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline?
The scope determines how much design, build and checking work is needed.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template generally take less effort.
Features
A calculator, booking, member login, additional languages or a CRM connection adds design, development and testing work.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish reduce the work; adding copywriting, photography or translation expands the scope.
Content migration
Moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site adds transfer and checking work.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Pittsburgh
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The page structures you need, the choice of a custom design or adapted template, and the work involved in preparing content all affect the scope. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed, so you can see what the proposed work covers.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Bring real headings and paragraphs into the design review too: their length affects the layout, and placeholder text can leave you with a page that needs reworking when the content arrives.
What is included in the website?
The build includes an editor for pages, news, projects and careers, plus contact and quote forms. We plan where form messages go, who receives quote requests and what visitors see in the confirmation. We also discuss whether WhatsApp or click-to-call belongs on the mobile pages.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, your business retains control of those accounts when you need changes or choose to work with someone else.
What happens after launch?
We provide ongoing support after launch. You should also decide who will update news, project and job posts, and use analytics to track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions. Checking which pages those enquiries started from gives you a practical way to assess how visitors use the site.
