Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a website builder?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugin selection gives you ways to add features, although you’ll need to keep the site updated for security. Decide who will look after those updates as well as who will publish content.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a business that wants fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. It’s a good fit when you’re happy for a developer to make structural changes. Think about the changes your team expects to make: adding a page is a different task from changing how the site is structured.
Hosted builders such as Wix, Squarespace and Webflow suit small sites that an owner wants to run alone. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away can mean rebuilding the site. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works and what it needs to edit.

What New Mexico businesses need from their websites
New Mexico’s mining, oil and gas, and aerospace sectors create work for suppliers that need to explain their capabilities clearly. If you supply other businesses, give buyers product or capability pages, relevant certifications and downloadable specifications. Your quote form should ask for enough detail to let you respond properly, instead of leaving your team to chase the basics.
Tourism and scientific research are also part of New Mexico’s economy. A tourism business needs visitors to understand its services and know how to make contact; a research organisation needs a clear page structure that helps visitors find the right information. Decide where messages should go, what the form confirmation says and whether a phone visitor needs a click-to-call button.
Rules
What a United States website project has to handle
US guidance on ADA Title III covers goods and services that businesses open to the public offer on the web, and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. Bring accessibility requirements into the project scope so they can inform the page structure and design. We set up a clear heading structure alongside page titles, descriptions and an XML sitemap, giving the site an organised foundation from launch.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work with you remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board. India is 10h30m to 13h30m ahead of the mainland US in winter, and 1 hour less ahead during daylight saving time. The shared board keeps decisions and feedback visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. Those answers shape the sitemap and give the project a direction.
- 02
Design
We prepare the sitemap, wireframes and page designs for desktop and mobile. You review them and give feedback, so we can refine the pages before the build.
- 03
Build
We write the code or build with a content management system your team can edit. We test the site on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check and launch
You proofread each page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather the material and decisions that will help shape your brief.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS format, plus brand colours and fonts, or a note that these still need creating.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each.
- Domain, hosting, email and analytics logins, or the name of the person who holds them.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Your site’s goal and the person responsible for each type of enquiry.
- Case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials and certifications in a shared folder.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of a website
The amount of design, build and checking work changes with your brief.
Features
Calculators, booking, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections each add work to design, build and test.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add to it.
Content migration
Blog posts, news archives and downloads from an old site need moving and checking.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with a brand whose colours and typefaces are still being decided.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with your website
Designing with placeholder copy
Bring real headings and paragraphs into the layouts early, so their length does not disrupt a design that looked finished.
Picking a platform too early
First decide who will update the site and how often; use those editing needs to guide the choice.
Copying every old page
Review which service pages visitors need, then keep the structure manageable for your team to maintain.
Leaving search setup until launch
Check page titles, the sitemap and any development indexing block before the site goes live.

Questions
Asked by businesses in New Mexico
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The choice between a custom design and an adapted template affects the scope, as does the work of gathering service descriptions, team bios, case studies and photos. We learn about your business and agree the scope with you before a quote.
Is a website still worth investing in?
A website gives you a place to measure the enquiries it generates. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions in analytics, and check which pages those visitors started from. Also decide who will keep news, project and job posts current after launch.
Can a custom website still have an editor?
Yes. A custom Next.js site can include an editor. WordPress suits teams that edit a lot of content themselves, while a custom Next.js site is faster and more secure. We recommend an option after understanding how your team works and how it expects to manage the site.
What does the design and build include?
It includes a sitemap, wireframes and page designs for desktop and mobile, refined with your feedback. We also provide a content editor for pages, news, projects and careers that your team can use without training. You can plan who will take responsibility for each type of update.
Will I own my website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, you retain control of the accounts as well as the website itself.
Can you build the site around our existing brand?
Yes. We can build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for use on the web where needed. Share what you already have when you explain the project, so the website design can work from those established elements.
