Choosing
Should you choose WordPress, a custom site or a website builder?
Start with the people who will update the site. WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most pages itself. It has a wide choice of plugins, but someone needs to keep the installation updated for security. A custom Next.js site is another option when speed and security are priorities; it can still have an editor for your content.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that you want to run yourself. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. A headless setup gives you a custom front end and a separate editor for heavier publishing, but adds components to host and maintain.
Design is a separate choice. A custom design fits specific brand or audience needs; an adapted template can suit a simple site with a tight brief, provided the layout is reworked around your actual content. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works.
Local
What Manchester organisations need from their websites
Retailers in Manchester, including businesses serving shoppers around the Mall of New Hampshire, need customers to find what they offer and know how to get in touch. An editable website gives your team control over pages and news, while a clear page structure helps visitors move from product information to contact details without having to search through the site.
Manchester also has higher education institutions. Their websites need to help prospective students find relevant information and send enquiries to someone who can answer them. Agree which inbox receives each form, who handles the messages and what the confirmation says; those decisions belong in the website brief alongside the page content.
Rules
Accessibility for a United States website
For businesses open to the public, US Department of Justice guidance says the ADA covers goods and services offered on the web and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. We agree an accessibility target in your brief and use the criteria to guide page design. Decide the target before designs are approved.
For a state or local government website, the ADA Title II rule specifies WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We set that standard as the target for the website work.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and track work across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Agree scope
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree with you what the project will cover.
- 03
Review wireframes
Check what goes on each page and the order it appears in. This is the stage for feedback on content and priorities.
- 04
Build and test
We build the site in code or with a content management system your team can edit, and test it on real devices and browsers.
- 05
Check and launch
You proofread the pages, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. We handle domain, email, analytics and search setup, followed by ongoing support.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather these details so we can discuss the content, design and access your project needs.
- Brand filesYour logo in SVG, AI or EPS format, plus your colours and fonts, or a note that these still need creating.
- Services or productsRank what you want to feature so the navigation can lead with your priorities.
- Website examplesBring sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Account accessFind the logins for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or identify who holds them.
- Proof of workGather case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time of a website project
The work involved depends on what is ready and what still needs to be created.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work; undecided colours and typefaces add decisions.
Copy and photos
Material supplied ready to publish keeps the scope smaller than adding copywriting, photography or translation.
Content gathering
Service descriptions, team bios, case studies and photos need owners early, since gathering them usually takes longer than approving the design.
Real page content
Designing around placeholder text risks layout changes when the actual headings and paragraphs arrive.
Photography
Real images of your team, premises and work need to be gathered; a photo shoot also needs booking ahead.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Manchester
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The number of distinct page templates affects design and build effort, while moving blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site adds migration and checking work. Once we have agreed the scope, we send you a free quote.
Can you build the site around our existing brand?
Yes. We can work with your logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Before choosing a platform, decide who will update the site and how often. That gives us a clearer basis for recommending an editing setup your team will use.
What search setup is included in the build?
We set up page metadata, structured data and sitemaps as part of a search-ready build. Page titles, descriptions and a clear heading structure belong in the work from the start. Before launch, check that an indexing block from development has not been left in place.
Will we own the website after launch?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That gives your business control of those accounts when you need to make changes.
How do we manage the site after launch?
Decide who will update news, projects and job posts, and give them responsibility for keeping those pages current. At handover, we provide a walkthrough for your team. You can also track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics and check which pages visitors started from.
