Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
Start with the editing work. WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to change most of the site itself. Its plugins offer a range of options, although the site needs regular updates to stay secure. Before choosing it, decide who will make changes and how often they will do so.
A custom Next.js site suits a design with requirements that templates cannot easily accommodate. It offers fast pages and tight security; structural changes usually need a developer. You can still have an editor for content, so choosing custom development does not mean asking a developer to make every text change.
A headless setup pairs a custom front end with a separate editor. It is an option when your team needs substantial editing control alongside fast pages, though there are more parts to host and maintain. We recommend WordPress or a custom Next.js site after learning how your team works, including what it needs to update and who will take responsibility.
Local
What Hartford organisations need from a website
Hartford is home to insurance company headquarters. For an insurance business, service and people pages give prospective clients a way to understand expertise before making contact. Plan the enquiry route too: decide who receives each request and what the confirmation message says.
Services and healthcare are also prominent industries in the city. A healthcare or services organisation needs a clear page structure, mobile and desktop designs, and forms with an owner from the start. Those decisions help your team plan the site around the information visitors need.
Hartford has post-secondary institutions, including Trinity College and Capital Community College. An education organisation reviewing its site can use a focused set of pages that visitors can scan and staff can keep current, instead of carrying every old page into the new build.
Rules
What a US website needs to handle
For a business open to the public, US guidance says the ADA covers goods and services offered on the web and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. We agree an accessibility target in the brief, using the latest WCAG version as the reference, and set up a clear heading structure as part of the build. Review every page on a phone too, so the mobile layout gets attention before you approve it.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. In winter, India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time; during daylight saving time, the difference is 1 hour less. Shared boards let us record decisions and feedback across that gap.

Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring a few sites you like or dislike, with a short note explaining why.
- Your logo in vector format, brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- A ranked list of the services or products you want to feature.
- Access details for your domain, hosting, email and analytics accounts, or the names of their holders.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work; arrange a shoot ahead if needed.
- Your main goal, such as calls or quote requests, and the person who handles each enquiry.
Cost & time
What affects cost and delivery
The scope determines both the work involved and how long it takes.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need more design and build work than pages sharing a template.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins or a CRM connection add design, build and testing work.
Migration
Moving news archives, blog posts and downloadable files adds transfer and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the visual identity during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Hartford
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The work is shaped by the content you need to gather, the choice between a custom design and an adapted template, and what your team needs to edit. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Is web development still worth it for my business?
It is worth considering when a site needs to help visitors take a clear next step. A manufacturer can use capability pages, specifications and a detailed quote form; a product startup may need a plain explanation and a way to join a waitlist or book a demo.
Can you work with our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Bring real headings and copy into the design process: text added after a layout is approved can be a different length from the placeholder and disrupt the page.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Your business should also hold the domain and hosting accounts in its own name and grant access to the people working on the site. That keeps control of those accounts with you.
What happens after the site launches?
We offer ongoing support after launch. Your team should also decide who will keep news, projects and job posts current. In analytics, track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions, then check which pages visitors started from when they made an enquiry.
