Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its plugins offer a wide choice of features, but someone needs to keep them and the platform updated for security. Decide who will take on that work before choosing it.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a business that wants fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. It is a good fit when you are happy for a developer to handle structural changes. Your choice affects who does the work when the site needs to change.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run alone. You get less control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean a rebuild. We recommend an approach after learning how your team works and how much editing you expect to do.
Local
What Harlow organisations need from their websites
The Pinnacles and Templefields were major employment developments, although Harlow’s manufacturing base has declined. If you run a manufacturer or B2B supplier, your site needs capability or product pages, certifications and downloadable specifications. A quote form should ask for enough detail for you to respond properly.
Harlow is home to Onlinegolf, an online golf store. For an online retailer, page structure and mobile design help visitors find their way through the site; a content editor gives the team a way to keep it current.
Harlow College provides sixth form and further education. An education provider planning a site should agree its goals and who handles each enquiry, including any job applications the website is intended to receive.

What a UK website needs to handle
If you run a UK limited company, we add its registered number, registered office address, place of registration and limited-company status to the website. Have those details ready when we prepare the pages.
The Equality Act 2010 requires organisations providing services through a website to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and use it to guide the page designs. WCAG has A, AA and AAA levels; the W3C encourages using its latest version.
How it runs
How your website project runs with us
We are a studio in India, working remotely through video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m ahead during British Summer Time, from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October. The shared board gives us a place to keep work and feedback visible across that time difference.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the questions and priorities you want the website to address.
- 02
Plan the pages
We use wireframes to establish what goes on each page and in what order. Your feedback here focuses on content and priorities; colours come later.
- 03
Build and test
We build with clean code or a content management system your team can edit, then test on real devices and browsers.
- 04
Check
Before launch, proofread every page, submit each form once and confirm who receives the messages. Check the details visitors will see.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather what you already have so we can see what the site needs to cover.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS format, plus brand colours and fonts, or a note that these need creating.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work; book a photo shoot ahead if you need one.
- Case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships in one folder.
- Login details for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or the name of the person who holds them.
- The services or products you want to feature, ranked by their priority for your business.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time involved
The scope determines how much design, build and testing work is needed.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build effort than multiple pages using the same template.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add to it.
Brand
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.
Features
Calculators, booking, member logins, multiple languages and CRM connections each add design, build and testing work.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Harlow
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is paying for web development still worthwhile?
It is worth considering when your current site makes services hard to find or maintain. You do not have to copy every page from an old site: clear service pages give visitors less to sift through and your team less to update. Review each proposed page on a phone before approving it.
How much should I pay someone to build my website?
There is no fixed price. A custom design for specific brand or audience needs takes a different scope from an adapted template. Content gathering also affects the work, while a separate front end and content editor add hosting and maintenance parts. We can discuss the scope with you before preparing a quote.
How do I choose a platform for my website?
Start with who will edit the site and how often. We build in Next.js or WordPress, and provide an editor for pages, news, projects and careers that your team can use without training. List the updates you expect to make before settling on the platform.
Will I own my website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, you retain control of the accounts as well as the website itself.
What should we do after the website launches?
Assign someone to update news, projects and job posts, and use analytics to track the enquiries the site receives. Look at form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks, including the pages where they started. Keeping posts current also helps visitors see that your business is active.
