Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. It offers a wide choice of plugins, though it also needs regular updates to stay secure. A custom Next.js site is faster and more secure, and it can still include an editor for your content.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run alone. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away from the builder later can mean rebuilding the site. Check that trade-off before putting all your content into a platform.
A headless setup gives you a custom front end and a separate content editor. It fits a site with heavy editing needs where speed is also a priority, but there are more parts to host and maintain. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works and who will keep the content current.
Local
What Aberdeen organisations need from a website
Aberdeen is a centre for undersea petroleum technology. For manufacturers and B2B suppliers working in that field, capability pages can explain what you supply, while certifications and downloadable specifications give a buyer material to check before making contact. A quote form should ask for enough detail for your team to respond properly.
The city is also home to the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University. An organisation with audiences to serve needs a clear sitemap, page structure and contact route, with an owner for each part of the work. Decide where messages go and who receives them before the site is built; that decision shapes the forms as well as the pages around them.
Rules
What a UK website needs to handle
If you run a UK limited company, your website must show its registered number, registered office address, place of registration and limited-company status. We include space for those details in the site structure, so you can supply and check them before launch.
Website services also need reasonable adjustments for disabled people. Agree an accessibility target in the brief; WCAG sets out levels including AA. We design desktop and mobile pages against the agreed target, so accessibility is part of the page work from the start.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m ahead during British Summer Time; the shared board gives both sides a place to keep decisions and feedback moving across that difference.

Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We learn about your goals and agree the scope with you.
- 02
Plan the pages
We prepare wireframes before visual design. Review the content and its order here; colours can wait until the page priorities are settled.
- 03
Design and build
We refine the screens with your feedback, then build and test the site on real devices and browsers. You can review it as the work takes shape.
- 04
Check
Proofread every page, submit each form once and confirm who receives the messages. This is your chance to catch small errors before visitors see them.
- 05
Launch and hand over
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the site.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
A few practical items help you explain the scope and make decisions about the pages.
- Your goalDecide if you want quote requests, calls or job applications, and who handles each enquiry.
- Brand filesGather your logo in SVG, AI or EPS format, plus your colours and fonts, or note what still needs creating.
- Proof of workCollect case studies, testimonials, certifications and client logos you have permission to show.
- PhotosGather images of your team, premises and finished work; book a photo shoot ahead if you need one.
- ExamplesBring sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each, such as contact details being easy to find.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The work involved depends on the design, features and material you need to publish.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages that share a template need less of it.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins, languages and CRM connections add design, build and testing work.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add work.
Brand
An existing logo and style guide need less design effort than deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Aberdeen
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to get a website built?
There is no fixed price: the brief determines the work. A custom design for a specific audience takes a different scope from an adapted template, and gathering service descriptions, case studies and photos also affects the work. Ask us for a quote once the scope is agreed.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Bring real headings and paragraphs into the design review too: placeholder text can leave a layout looking finished, only for the real content to change its shape.
What search setup is included?
The build includes page titles and descriptions, a clear heading structure, an XML sitemap, structured data and fast pages. It is worth checking the indexing settings before launch as well: a block left on from development can keep the new site out of search results.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. As part of the handover, make sure someone in your team knows who is responsible for updating news, projects and job posts. A neglected news section can leave visitors wondering whether the company is still trading.
How should we measure the site after launch?
Measure the enquiries it produces. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions in analytics, then check which pages those actions started from. Review the pages on a phone as well as a desktop, since visitors need to be able to use the contact options on smaller screens.
