Choosing

Should you use a theme or a headless storefront?

A Shopify theme gives you a storefront you can edit through the theme editor. Apps can add features quickly, but each subscription and extra script adds to the running burden, and you depend on the app maker. Custom code or a custom app can fit a specific requirement more closely, though it needs maintenance as Shopify changes.

A headless storefront using Hydrogen or Next.js suits a content-led brand or an unusual buying flow. It gives you a different route for building the storefront, but you give up the theme editor. Apps that add features through a theme might not work there, so check the tools your staff need before choosing this route.

If you sell across countries, decide how much should be shared. One store can use markets for local-currency pricing, translations and international domains. Separate stores suit different catalogues or teams for each country, or a need for payouts in different currencies. Also check the checkout changes you need: standard customisation starts with the Basic plan, while apps that change the information, shipping and payment steps require Shopify Plus.

Market

What buyers in Bahrain expect

Buyers need a payment route they recognise and can use. BenefitPay is the national electronic wallet; before choosing a gateway, check whether it supports the payment methods you intend to offer. We configure payments for your market and test the connections included in the store scope.

Compare the total cost per order across gateways if Shopify Payments is unavailable to your business. A third-party gateway carries an extra Shopify transaction fee even when Shopify Payments is active. Retailers with physical shops may also want online and in-store stock in one system, using Shopify’s point-of-sale app alongside the online store.

Rules

What a Shopify project in Bahrain has to handle

Online vendors must display their prices on their store websites. We set up product pages and collections so customers can see prices as they browse, rather than having to leave the store to find them.

The standard VAT rate is 10%. Where VAT applies to your business, we configure the store’s tax settings for the market and check how prices are presented on the pages customers use. Have your business details and policies ready so the store setup reflects how you sell.

How it runs

How a Shopify project runs with us

We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 2h30m ahead, so the shared board gives both sides a place to review decisions and keep work moving across the time difference.

  1. 01

    Discover

You tell us about your business, customers and goals. We agree the store’s scope together, including the work that needs to be ready for launch.

  2. 02

    Design

We prepare page designs for desktop and mobile. You review them and give feedback before we write the theme code, so page decisions are made while they are still visible in the designs.

  3. 03

    Build and preview

Theme work takes place on an unpublished copy. You preview and approve it before publication, while the existing live store keeps trading during the build.

  4. 04

    Handover

We teach your team to manage orders, products and discounts. You get practice with the tasks your staff will carry out after the store is handed over.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Gather the details your store and its handover will need.

  • An account and plan in your business’s name and billing, so the store, data and subscriptions belong to you.
  • Consistent product photos for each colour or style, plus size charts, care instructions and specifications.
  • A list of current and planned apps and tools, with the job each needs to do.
  • For a migration, exports of products, customers and orders, plus the URLs bringing the most traffic and sales.
  • Business and bank details for the chosen gateway, and shipping, returns, privacy and terms policies reviewed for your business.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline

The scope determines how much design, setup and testing the store needs.

  • Theme route

Adjusting an existing theme is a smaller piece of work than designing and building a custom theme around your brand.

  • Catalogue structure

Bundles, made-to-order choices and specifications shown through metafields add product setup and theme work.

  • Migration depth

Moving products alone is lighter than also moving customer records, order history, reviews, gift cards and redirects.

  • Connections and markets

Stock and price sync with other systems adds integration work. Extra markets can add prices, translations and shipping rates to configure.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid

  • Inconsistent product data

Loose tags, product types and vendors can put products in the wrong collection or hide them from filters. Agree a consistent way to enter those fields.

  • Missing redirects

Map old URLs to their new Shopify destinations for launch. Redirects only work from URLs that no longer load a page.

  • Too many apps

Subscriptions and scripts add up. Check theme files when removing an app, because some leave code behind.

  • Unfinished launch content

Replace theme demo content, placeholder policies and default notification wording before buyers see the store.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Bahrain

How much does it cost to hire a Shopify developer?

There is no fixed price for every store. The main drivers include the theme design, the depth of any migration and the apps or systems that need connecting and testing. Tell us what the store needs and agree the scope with us before asking for a quote.

Can I hire someone to build me a Shopify store?

Yes. You can hire us to build the store and train your staff to run its everyday operations. We are a web, app and AI development studio in India, and you speak directly to the people designing and building your product during the project.

How should products be organised into collections?

Use manual collections when staff need to choose each product themselves. Automated collections suit a catalogue with consistent tags, product types, vendors or prices: Shopify uses those conditions to keep the collection current. The choice affects how much catalogue upkeep your team does.

Can product pages show size charts and care instructions?

Yes. Metafields hold structured details such as dimensions, care instructions and size charts. We can use those fields in the theme to show the information in its own product-page section, instead of pasting every detail into the main description.

Who owns the store and controls developer access?

You do. The store stays in your account, and a developer works through a collaborator account that you approve. You choose the permissions and can remove access at any time. You also own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in to the building team.

What happens after the store launches?

Ongoing support follows launch from the people who designed and built the store. Your team can review conversion rate, cart abandonment, average order value and returning customers in Shopify reports, alongside organic clicks and product-page indexing in Search Console.
