Choosing
Which approach to SEO should you choose?
Start with how customers look for you. Local SEO suits a business whose customers search for a nearby provider. Content-led SEO suits a business whose buyers research their options before making contact. You may need both: the balance should follow the searches your customers make and the services you want to promote.
Paid search is a separate option. It gives you visibility while the advertising budget runs, and that visibility stops when the budget ends. SEO builds gradually and keeps working. If you run ads, their search terms can also help you identify topics to target on your site.
Your existing platform also affects the choice. If you cannot edit page titles, add structured data or fix slow templates, rebuilding may take less effort than working around those restrictions. Check separately sold AI-search packages carefully too: Google says appearing in AI Overviews or AI Mode does not require special markup, AI text files or extra optimisation.
Market
What do buyers in New Zealand need from your pages?
The answer depends on what you sell. A local service business, such as a clinic or repair firm, needs a complete Google Business Profile, genuine reviews and a clear page for each service. A professional firm needs to help people research before they call, with evidence of expertise, named people and examples of past work.
For an online shop, category pages, original product copy and complete product data give shoppers useful detail, while filter URLs need control. If traffic fell after a redesign or migration, tracing redirects, lost pages and internal links gives the work a different starting point. Your site’s history shapes the questions we ask.
How it runs
How an SEO services project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 6h30m behind New Zealand, or 7h30m during New Zealand daylight time, so the shared board gives us a place to keep questions and work visible between calls.

Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you already have; these details help us agree a useful scope.
- Your service prioritiesnote where you have spare capacity or better margins, and which enquiries you want less of.
- Your service areas and the words customers use when they ask for your work.
- Material for pagesproject photos, reviews, credentials, memberships and short bios of the people doing the work.
- Your site historypast providers, bought links, previous domains, redesigns, migrations and any traffic drops you noticed.
- Your enquiry routesrecord how people contact you and whether you already track where leads come from.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing of SEO services?
The scope determines the effort, and the work needed on your site affects how long implementation takes.
Site size and health
a larger site with duplicate pages, slow templates or indexing errors has more to investigate and fix.
Service areas and branches
each adds profile and citation work, as well as a location page with something specific to say.
Technical problems
speed, crawl, indexing and redirect fixes involve changes in the site’s code alongside the page work.
Page planning
searches need grouping by intent, with a main topic for each page, so your own pages do not compete for the same search.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with SEO services
Buying links for rankings
Google treats buying or selling links for that purpose as link spam. Keep this out of the proposed scope.
Publishing large numbers of AI-generated pages without adding value
Google lists this as scaled content abuse. Give readers useful material on each page.
Offering gifts for reviews or asking only happy customers
Google prohibits both. Ask for genuine reviews without an incentive or selective screening.
Adding keywords to your Business Profile name
use the name customers see on your website, invoices and signage, without unnecessary taglines.
Questions

What does an SEO company do?
An SEO company improves the pages and signals that help people find a business through search. That includes titles, headings, internal links and structured data, as well as local profile work. Relevant mentions can come from supplier or partner pages, trade associations, press coverage, sponsorships and useful resources.
How much do SEO services cost?
There is no fixed price. The strength and number of businesses targeting the same searches affect the content and reputation work needed. The amount of content also changes the scope: improving existing pages takes less work than planning and producing a new set of service pages and guides.
Should I choose a one-off project or ongoing SEO?
Choose a one-off audit and fix project if your site has clear technical problems and your own team can continue the work. An ongoing engagement suits you if you need new content, local work and regular reporting. Your available in-house capacity is a useful part of that decision.
Who owns my site and Google Business Profile?
You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. You should also own your Google Business Profile and add your provider as a manager. A manager can edit the profile, but cannot add or remove users or delete it, so you retain control over those access decisions.
How should I judge the work after launch?
Look at enquiries and sales from organic search, with rankings and traffic as supporting signs. In Search Console, the Performance report shows clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position by query and page. Check Search Console for indexing errors, manual actions, security issues and sudden drops in clicks too.
Can an SEO provider promise a search position?
No. Google says no one can promise a top ranking, so treat a promised position as a warning sign when comparing providers. Expect gradual change, shaped by competition, your content and your site’s history. Ask a provider how they will report progress without presenting a promised position as the outcome.
