Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
A cross-platform app suits many products built around accounts, forms, bookings, payments or content. We usually use React Native, which shares a codebase across iOS and Android while rendering each platform’s own interface components. It is written in JavaScript or TypeScript, so web developers can contribute; some logic can also be shared with a React web app.
Native development is worth considering when the product depends on deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. Swift for iPhone and Kotlin for Android give you separate codebases to build and maintain. With React Native, we can also use native modules for features that need them.
A progressive web app is another option, particularly for a staff tool. It skips store review, but it will not appear in the app stores unless packaged for them. On iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after someone adds it to the Home Screen. Those limits are worth checking against how people will use your product.
Local
What Warrington organisations need from an app
Warrington has manufacturing businesses in steel, textiles, brewing, tanning and chemicals. For a manufacturer with inspection or maintenance teams, the useful detail is what happens on a job: staff may need forms, photos, signatures and location captured offline, then synced to the office when signal returns. Decide which records staff need to see and change before choosing the offline scope.
Warrington Council and Warrington & Halton Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust are major local employers. An appointment service needs a clear booking flow, reminders, payments and a staff view of the day’s schedule. For an organisation whose customers already use a web platform frequently, an app can reuse its accounts, data and backend.
How it runs
How a mobile app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m ahead during British Summer Time; shared boards keep feedback and tasks visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the task you want people to complete first.
- 02
Design
We prepare iOS and Android screens and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Tell us where a flow is unclear.
- 03
Prototype
Put the clickable design in front of a few customers or staff. Changes at this stage cost far less than changes after a screen is built.
- 04
Build and test
You receive test builds on your own phone through TestFlight or Google Play testing tracks. Use the app and share what you notice.
- 05
Submit
We handle listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. For an app with login, have a working demo account and live backend ready, and leave room for fixes and resubmission.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
A few practical details will help you define the first release.
- List the systems the app must connect to, such as your booking software or payment provider; note available APIs and who holds admin access.
- Start registering Apple and Google developer accounts in your company’s name. Organisation accounts need a D-U-N-S number for verification.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; Apple requires a link in the listing and inside the app.
- List any analytics or advertising SDKs you plan to use. Google Play’s Data safety answers must include data collected by third-party SDKs.
- Keep developer accounts, signing access and code repositories in your business’s name so the app remains easier to move.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline?
The work grows with the flows, connections and safeguards in your scope.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even with a shared backend.
Offline work
Showing last-loaded data is modest work; offline editing and later synchronisation need conflict handling.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Integrations
A payment gateway, booking system or scanner adds setup, testing and failure handling.
User content
Apps with user-generated content need filtering, reporting, blocking and published contact details.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Warrington
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
The cost follows the agreed scope. Custom animation, support for several languages and tablet layouts each add design and testing across screens. Decide which of those you need in the first release and which can wait; that gives the development team a clearer basis for a quote.
How do I choose an app developer for my existing website?
Ask how the developer will give people a useful reason to install the app. Apple’s guidelines expect more than a repackaged website, and an app without significant account-based features should let people use it without logging in. Discuss the main task and when an account is genuinely needed.
Can you include payments and subscriptions?
Yes. We build in-app purchases and subscriptions for both stores. The checkout depends on what you sell: digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app require in-app purchase under Apple’s rules, while physical goods and services used outside the app must use another payment method, such as a card gateway.
Will I own the app after launch?
Yes. You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. If your app lets people create accounts, plan deletion into the product too: Apple requires an in-app way to start deletion, while Google Play also requires a web link where people can request account and associated data deletion.
What support does an app need after launch?
Plan for bug fixes, operating system updates and new features; we provide ongoing support after launch. Google Play also requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Analytics and crash reporting in the first release help you see where people drop out and which devices crash.
