Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform or native development?
Cross-platform development suits apps built around accounts, forms, lists, maps, bookings, payments and content. React Native shares most of the code across iOS and Android, while rendering each platform’s own interface components. It uses JavaScript or TypeScript, so web developers can contribute; some logic can also be shared with a React web app.
Native development is a better fit when the product depends on deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features at launch. That means building and maintaining separate Swift and Kotlin codebases. It gives you a way to work directly with each platform, with more code to maintain.
We usually build with React Native and add native modules where a feature needs them. We go native when the device requirements call for it. Bring the tasks your users need to complete and the device features they need to use; those are the details that guide the choice.
Local
What Manama businesses need from an app
Manama has shops in malls around Seef as well as smaller traders and workshops in its centre. If you serve repeat customers, an app can give them reordering, loyalty and saved payment details. Keep checkout quick, and plan notifications around a reason to return.
Financial services are a primary industry in Manama. If your app lets customers create accounts, plan the account-deletion flow as part of the product: Apple expects an in-app route, while Google Play also requires a web link for deletion requests. Your screens and account data need to support that request.
For a salon or gym serving customers in Manama, booking screens, reminders and payments need to connect with a staff view of the day’s schedule. That gives your team a view to work from as customers make appointments.
Rules
What your app project in Bahrain needs to handle
Arabic is Bahrain’s official language, and English is widely used in business. If you need both in your app, we plan the language choices and screen text as part of the design. Each language adds design and testing work across the screens, so identify the content that needs translation when you agree the scope.
If personal data will be transferred outside Bahrain, the destination and the basis for that transfer affect the build. We map where the data needs to go and set up a consent step when consent is the applicable basis for the transfer.
How it runs
How an app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 2h30m ahead of Bahrain, so we use the shared board to keep decisions and feedback visible between conversations.
- 01
Discover
Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We use that discussion to agree the scope with you, including the tasks the app needs to support.
- 02
Design
We prepare screens for iOS and Android and refine them with your feedback before writing code. Review the flows as well as the individual screens, so you can see how a customer moves through a task.
- 03
Build
We develop the app using a React Native codebase for both platforms, adding native modules where a feature needs them. You can review the work against the scope agreed at discovery.
- 04
Launch
We handle the store listings, submission and review under your developer accounts. Your part is to provide the account access and information needed for the listings.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
A few decisions and materials will make the first discussion more useful.
- List the tasks users must complete in the first release, in the order they would do them.
- Start registering your developer accounts in the company’s name; organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
- Check the closed-test requirement before using a new personal Google Play developer account.
- Prepare a privacy policy that matches the data the app collects; Apple requires links in the listing and app.
- For an app with login, prepare a working demo account and live backend for Apple’s review.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of app development
The work changes with the number of flows, connections and features you ask the app to support.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even with a shared backend.
Integrations
A payment gateway, booking system or scanner adds setup, testing and failure handling.
Live features
Tracking and chat need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
User content
Posts or other user-generated material need moderation features, including reporting and blocking.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with app development
Wrapping your website in an app shell
Give people a useful app experience beyond the existing site. A repackaged website risks store rejection and gives customers little reason to install it.
Demanding sign-up immediately
Let people see value before creating an account where the app does not depend on account-based features.
Asking for notification permission at first launch
Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android, users need to allow notifications before they receive them.
Questions
Asked by businesses in Manama
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The scope of the app, its backend and its staff admin panel affects the work, as do offline editing and notification controls. Syncing offline edits with conflict handling takes more work than showing previously loaded data. Once we agree the scope, we can discuss a quote.
How should I choose an app development company?
Choose a team whose working process lets you review the product with the people building it. With us, you speak directly to the designers and developers. Ask how you will test the proposed screens too: putting a clickable prototype in front of customers or staff gives you feedback before the screens are built.
Can you include payments and subscriptions in the app?
Yes. We build in-app purchases and subscriptions for both stores. The checkout route depends on what you sell: digital content and subscriptions used in the app generally use the stores’ purchase systems, while physical goods and services used outside the app need another payment method. Some storefronts or regions allow alternatives.
Will I own the app and its accounts?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repositories in your business’s name as well. That gives you control of the assets needed to move the app later, without having to recover them from an agency’s or freelancer’s accounts.
What support is available after launch?
We offer ongoing support for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features. Some JavaScript and content fixes can be delivered over the air; native code changes and new permissions still need a store release. Track returning users, drop-off in the main task and crash-free rate to see how the app is working.
Can the app share data with my website?
Yes. We can build a shared backend for your app, website and admin tools. That keeps customer accounts and data in one place, so your staff have an admin view of the same service your customers use. Bring details of the tasks each part needs to support when we discuss the scope.
