Choosing
Should you choose cross-platform, native or a web app?
For an app built around bookings, accounts, lists or payments, a cross-platform build is often a practical starting point. React Native shares much of the code across iOS and Android while using each platform’s own interface components. It is written in JavaScript or TypeScript, so web developers can contribute and some logic can be shared with a React website. We use native development when the app needs deep access to device features.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded app where you want screens to look identical on both platforms. Your team would need to work in Dart, so the choice also affects who can maintain and extend the app later.
A progressive web app can suit a staff tool and skips store review. It will not appear in the stores unless packaged for them, though, and an iPhone user must add it to the Home Screen before it can ask to send notifications. If you want a store app, check what it will do beyond displaying your existing website: a repackaged site risks rejection.

What Kelowna organisations need from an app
Service businesses employ the most people in Kelowna. For an appointment business such as a salon, gym or clinic, the useful starting point is a booking flow that customers can complete on their phone, with reminders, payment and a staff view of the day’s schedule. That gives you a clear set of screens to discuss before adding more features.
Kelowna’s tourism industry also makes repeat ordering relevant to restaurants serving visitors and returning customers. An app can bring reordering, loyalty and saved payment details into a quick checkout. For reminders or offers, plan the notification rules alongside the sending service, and give customers settings to switch off message categories they do not want.
Rules
What an app project in Canada needs to handle
British Columbia has its own private-sector privacy law, alongside the federal rules for personal information in commercial activity. For an app that collects customer details, we map what information the screens ask for and set up consent and account controls around its use.
Checkout needs to match what you sell. For digital content and subscriptions used in the app, we set up the stores’ in-app purchase systems; physical goods and services use another payment method. Stripe is available to businesses in Canada for accepting payments, so a card gateway is an option for those physical purchases.
How it runs
How a mobile app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and a shared project board. India is 12h30m ahead of British Columbia, so the board gives you a place to leave feedback and see decisions without waiting for a call.

Discover
We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. Bring the main task you want customers or staff to complete.
- 02
Design and build
We design screens for your feedback before coding, then build and test on real devices and browsers. You review the designs before work moves into code.
- 03
Test
We send builds to your phone through TestFlight or the Google Play testing tracks. Try the main flow in real use and tell us where it is awkward.
- 04
Submit
We handle store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You keep those accounts in your business’s control.

- LoginPrepare a working demo account and live backend for Apple’s review.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of an app?
The work grows with the flows and features you ask the team to build and test.
User types
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.
Live features
Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.
Screen design
Custom animation, extra languages, right-to-left scripts and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
User content
Posts or other user-generated material need filtering, reporting, blocking and published contact details.

How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. A major driver is whether you already have a backend with a documented API or need a new backend and admin panel. Offline working also changes the scope: displaying saved data is a smaller task than creating and editing records offline, then resolving conflicts when they sync.
How do I choose a company to develop my app?
Choose a team that can show you how your customers or staff will review the proposed screens before they are built. Put a clickable prototype in front of a few real users and watch them attempt the main task. Changing a screen at that stage takes less work than changing it after development.
What should the first release include?
Include analytics and crash reporting alongside the main user flow. Tools such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or Sentry show which screens people use, where they stop and which devices crash. For an app with account creation on Google Play, include an in-app account deletion path and a web link for deletion requests.
Will I own the app and its code?
Yes. You own your code, content and domain without lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repository in your business’s name too; accounts held by a freelancer or agency can make the app difficult to move when you want someone else to maintain it.
What happens after the app launches?
Plan for measurement and maintenance. Look at how many users return, where they drop out of the main task and the crash-free rate after a release. Google Play also requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, so regular maintenance releases help keep the app available to new users on newer devices.
