App developers for Glasgow businesses
Get a mobile app designed for the people who use your service in Glasgow, with screens suited to iOS and Android, a backend for accounts and data, and help with store release. We are MSH Technologies, a development studio in India. You work with us remotely throughout the project, from the first discussion about what users need to the launch.

Choosing
Should you build a cross-platform app or go native?
For an app built around accounts, bookings, payments or content, a cross-platform build is worth considering. React Native shares most of its code across iOS and Android while using each platform’s own interface components. It is written in JavaScript or TypeScript, so web developers can contribute. We recommend a native build when the app needs deep access to device features; that choice gives those features room to shape the build.
Flutter is another cross-platform option. It uses Dart and draws its own interface, which suits a heavily branded app where you want screens to look identical across platforms. A progressive web app is another route for a staff tool: it skips store review, but does not appear in the app stores unless packaged for them. On an iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after being added to the Home Screen.
Start with what people need to do. We learn about your audience and goals, then agree the scope with you before design and development begin. That discussion gives us a basis for choosing the approach and deciding which parts belong in the first release.
Local
What Glasgow organisations need from an app
Glasgow’s hospitality businesses include places serving repeat customers who may want to reorder or use loyalty features. A useful app flow gives them a fast checkout and saved payment details, with notifications timed around what they have done. Health and other appointment businesses need a different set of screens: booking, reminders and payments for customers, plus a view of the day’s schedule for staff.
Higher education and academic research are also part of Glasgow’s work. For an organisation whose users already return frequently to a web platform, an app could use the same accounts and data. We build a shared backend for the app, website and admin tools, so staff have one place to work with that information instead of maintaining separate copies.
How it runs
How a mobile app project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 5h30m ahead of the UK, or 4h30m ahead during British Summer Time. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and see progress across that difference.

Discover
Tell us about your business, audience and goals. We use that discussion to agree the scope with you before deciding what goes into the build.
- 02
Design
We prepare screens for iOS and Android and refine them with your feedback before coding. Put the clickable prototype in front of customers or staff; changing a screen at this stage costs less than changing it after the build.
- 03
Build
We use React Native to share a codebase across the platforms, adding native modules where needed. You can review the work as the agreed screens and features take shape.
- 04
Test
We send builds to your phone through TestFlight on iPhone and Google Play’s internal or closed testing tracks. Use the app for real tasks and tell us where a flow needs attention.
- 05
Submit
For an app with login, provide a working demo account and keep the backend live for Apple’s review. Leave room in the launch plan for a fix and resubmission if needed.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring the material below to make the first scope discussion more useful.
- User tasksList what people must do in the first release, in the order they will do it.
- Existing systemsNote your website, CRM, booking software and payment provider, including API availability and who holds admin access.
- Privacy policyPrepare a policy that matches the data the app collects; Apple requires a link in the app and its store listing.
- Developer accountsRegister Apple and Google accounts in your company’s name. Organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number, so start early.
- Account deletionIf people create accounts, plan how they will start deleting them inside the app; deactivation alone is insufficient for Apple.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time of app development
The scope determines how much design, development and testing the project needs.
User roles
Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even when they share a backend.
Integrations
A payment gateway, booking system or hardware connection adds setup, testing and work to handle failures.
Offline use
Showing the last loaded data is modest work. Creating and editing records offline adds later syncing and conflict handling.
Interface variations
Custom animation, extra languages or tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building an app
Wrapping a website in an app shell
Apple expects more than a repackaged site. Identify what people will do in the app before settling on the build.
Forcing sign-up too early
Let people see value before asking them to register. Apple asks apps without significant account-based features to allow use without login.
Requesting notification permission at first launch
Ask when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. On Android 13 and later, notifications stay off until the user allows them.
Adding an analytics or advertising SDK late
Update the store privacy answers when the app changes. Google Play’s Data safety form must cover data collected by third-party SDKs.
Questions

How much does it cost to develop an app?
There is no fixed price. The work depends heavily on whether you already have a backend with a documented API and whether the app needs live tracking or chat. A new backend adds substantial work; real-time features need persistent connections. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Which company should I choose for app development?
Choose a company that can explain what it will build and how you will assess the first release. Ask what analytics and crash reporting will show you. Tools such as Firebase Analytics, Crashlytics or Sentry can reveal which screens people use, where they leave and which devices crash.
What should be included alongside the app screens?
Check that the proposal covers the backend and an admin panel as well as the phone app. Staff may need to edit content, look up customers, issue refunds or block abusive accounts without calling a developer. Agree who will use those tools and which tasks they need to complete.
How do push notifications work?
Notifications need a sending service, rules for who receives each message and settings inside the app. We can use a service such as Firebase Cloud Messaging and set up categories that people can switch off. Discuss which messages are useful and when each should be sent before adding them to the scope.
Will I own the app and its store accounts?
You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Store submissions also run under your own developer accounts: we handle the listings, submission and review through those accounts. Keeping the accounts in your control gives you a clear place to manage the app’s store presence.
What support does an app need after launch?
Plan for bug fixes, operating-system updates and new features after release. Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level, so maintenance releases need attention. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out over the air, while native code changes and new permissions still need a store release.
