iOS mobile app development company for Canada

You get an iOS app built around what your users need to do, with screens that follow Apple’s guidelines, connected accounts and data, and notifications where your product needs them. From Canada, you work remotely with MSH Technologies, a development studio in India. We agree the scope with you and keep you involved as the app takes shape.

What you get

What’s included in iOS app development

  • App design

Screens and flows that follow Apple's guidelines.

  • Build

A native or cross-platform app, depending on what your product needs.

  • Back end & APIs

Accounts, data and notifications connected to your systems.

  • App Store release

Store listing, review submission and fixes for any rejection.

  • Updates

New iOS versions, bug fixes and features after launch.

Tools we use: Swift, React Native, Expo, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you build a native or cross-platform app?

A native Swift app with SwiftUI suits an iPhone-only product, particularly one built around Apple features such as widgets, an Apple Watch app or HealthKit. You can plan the screens and features for the Apple devices you want to support. If Android becomes necessary, the trade-off is a separate build, so it helps to consider that possibility before settling the initial scope.

React Native or Flutter suit a product that needs Android soon as well as iPhone. They share most code across the platforms. Where a framework does not cover a feature, native Swift modules can still be added. That gives you a way to plan for both platforms while identifying the Apple-specific work that needs separate attention.

Distribution is another decision. An app intended for your own staff can be distributed privately as a custom app through Apple Business or Apple School Manager, instead of appearing in the public App Store. Decide who needs access before preparing a public listing: an inspection or stock-checking tool for your own devices has a different audience from an app intended for customers.

Market

What app users in Canada may expect

Clinics, studios and hospitality businesses use iPhone apps for bookings and reminders, as well as Wallet passes for tickets or memberships. If that resembles your service, decide which action a customer should complete in the app and what information they need to see afterwards. A booking flow, for example, needs a different set of screens from a membership pass.

Payment choices affect the checkout you plan. Interac Debit is used for debit-card payments, while Interac e-Transfer sends and receives money. Stripe is also available to businesses signing up in Canada. Tell us which payment method you want to support so we can discuss the checkout and the connection it needs; also identify any digital subscriptions or premium content you intend to sell.

Rules

What a Canadian iOS app project needs to handle

Federal privacy rules cover how private-sector organisations collect, use and disclose personal information in commercial activity; Alberta, British Columbia and Quebec have their own substantially similar private-sector laws. We set up a privacy policy link inside the app and in App Store Connect, describing the information collected, who receives it and how users request deletion. If your app creates accounts, we also include a way to start account deletion inside it.

We also prepare the App Store privacy details for your listing. These need to cover data collected by the app and its third-party SDKs, so we need to identify those tools and their data collection as part of the build.

How it runs

How an iOS app project runs with us

We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is ahead of your local time, with the gap varying by region and daylight saving, so the shared board gives you a place to review work and leave feedback across the time difference.

  1. 01

    Discover

tell us about your business, audience and goals. We use that discussion to agree the scope with you before moving into the work.

  2. 02

    Design and build

we prepare screen designs for your feedback before code, then build and test on real devices and browsers. You review the designs while changes are still being discussed.

  3. 03

    Test

we use TestFlight to put builds on your own iPhone. You can try the flows during development and invite external testers after Apple reviews the first beta build.

  4. 04

    Prepare for review

if the app has a login, provide a working demo account and make sure the backend is live. We also check for placeholder text, test content, broken links and crashes.

  5. 05

    Submit

we prepare the App Store listing, submit the app for review and fix issues raised in a rejection. You supply the listing information and access needed for submission.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Bring the following decisions and materials to the conversation.

  • Developer accountfor organisation enrolment, have your D-U-N-S number, legal entity name and public website on your own domain ready.
  • Seller namedecide who should appear on the App Store; an organisation account shows the company, while an individual account shows the person’s legal name.
  • Listing materialprepare an app name, subtitle, keywords, description, support URL and screenshots for the iPhone and iPad sizes you support.
  • Digital salesidentify subscriptions or premium content early, because that determines whether Apple’s in-app purchase needs to be built.
  • Advertising datatell us if user data will be linked with other companies’ apps or websites for advertising, or shared with data brokers; that requires an App Tracking Transparency permission request.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and time of iOS app development

The scope determines how much design, build and testing work the app needs.

  • Apple surfaces

iPad layouts, widgets, Watch apps, Siri shortcuts and Live Activities each add work beyond the main iPhone app. Choose the surfaces your users need.

  • Device hardware

Bluetooth, NFC, camera scanning and background location take more build and testing effort than standard screens.

  • Payment and passes

Apple Pay and Wallet passes each bring their own design, code, testing and review work.

  • Future releases

Apple periodically raises the minimum Xcode and SDK versions for uploads, so even a stable app needs rebuilding and retesting before its next update ships.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with iOS app development

  • Wrapping a website in an app shell

Apple expects an app to offer more than a repackaged site. Plan what users will do in the app before deciding how existing website content fits.

  • Requiring sign-up too early

let people see and use the app without logging in when it has no significant account-based features.

  • Sending promotional push notifications without permission

include an explicit opt-in and a way to opt out inside the app.

  • Asking for device permissions without context

explain why the app needs location, camera, contacts or photos when the user reaches the relevant feature, rather than showing vague prompts at first launch.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Canada

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an iOS app?

There is no fixed price: the scope drives the work. A backend and admin panel can match the app itself in size, while an existing backend with a documented API reduces that work. Subscriptions add purchase setup, server-side checks, purchase restoration, upgrades and refund handling. We can discuss a quote once the scope is agreed.

How should I choose an app development company?

Choose a company that can explain how it will build the experience your users need. Ask to see how it will handle familiar navigation and system controls, larger text, Dark Mode and VoiceOver labels. Those details give you something specific to discuss when reviewing screen designs and deciding what belongs in the scope.

Should I launch on iPhone first?

An iPhone-first launch can suit a consumer idea aimed at an iPhone-heavy audience. Some startups take that route and add Android after the product shows traction. Before choosing, ask how your planned audience will use the product and what you would need to learn from the first release.

Who owns the app code after the project?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. That ownership gives you a clear basis for deciding how to handle the product after launch. When agreeing the scope, identify the code and content involved so you know what forms part of the product you will own.

Can users sign in with a third-party account?

Yes. If the main sign-in uses a third-party login such as Google, Apple requires an equivalent option that collects only a name and email and lets users keep their email private. Sign in with Apple is the usual way to meet that requirement, so include it when planning the sign-in screens.

What support is available after the app launches?

We handle updates for new iOS versions, bug fixes and new features after launch. You can also review App Store Connect figures for impressions, downloads, listing-to-install conversion and crashes. Pairing those with in-app analytics helps you see what people do after installing and decide what to investigate next.
