Choosing

Which platform should you choose for your store?

Shopify is suited to a team that wants hosting, security, checkout and platform updates handled for it. You can add features through apps, though their subscriptions add to the ongoing work of running the store. Deeper checkout changes are limited to the Shopify Plus plan, so check your checkout requirements before choosing it.

WooCommerce suits a business already using WordPress, particularly when the store sits alongside a substantial amount of content. You have control over the code, data and hosting, but someone also needs to look after hosting, updates, security and plugin compatibility. A custom storefront is worth considering when your catalogue or checkout has unusual requirements. We recommend a platform after learning how your products and operations work.

You can also run a store alongside a marketplace and sync stock between them. A marketplace brings visitors but sets the rules and keeps the customer relationship; your store retains customer data and margin, while you take responsibility for attracting visitors. For sales across countries, decide how prices, currencies, duties, translated content and shipping will work in each market.

Market

What shoppers in the United Arab Emirates expect

Payment choice starts with your business registration, selling currencies and the methods your customers use. Stripe lists the country for business sign-up, and Jaywan supports online card payments. We check gateway and platform compatibility, along with refunds, disputes and settlement, before configuring checkout.

The consumer protection rules require product or service information and supplier invoices in Arabic for covered e-commerce sales. We set up the relevant Arabic product information and invoice content as part of the store. Retailers adding online sales may also need stock connected to their shop till and click and collect; distributors may need customer-specific prices and quote requests. These choices affect the catalogue and ordering flow.

Rules

What a United Arab Emirates store has to handle

Modern technology-based trade rules require a clear digital invoice for each transaction. We set up the store's invoice output as part of the order flow, so you can check what a customer receives when placing a test order.

The federal data protection rules include requirements for consent, subject to listed exceptions, and for cross-border transfers of personal data. We set up consent collection where it is required and account for transfers when planning the services connected to your store. This affects the information collected at checkout and the way it is sent to other systems.

How it runs

How an e-commerce development project runs with us

India time is 1h30m ahead. We keep work moving across that difference by sharing progress and feedback on the project board, then using calls when a decision needs discussion.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, customers and goals, then agree the store's scope with you. Bring the ordering and fulfilment questions your team needs the store to answer.

  2. 02

    Design

We design product, collection and checkout pages for desktop and mobile. You review the screens and give feedback before we write code.

  3. 03

    Prepare the catalogue

We import a small product sample first. You check the titles, variants, prices and images; once the format is right, we import the full catalogue.

  4. 04

    Test

You place orders across payment methods, shipping zones, discounts and tax cases. Check the stock levels, order emails and admin records against what actually happened.

  5. 05

    Launch and care

We handle the domain, email, analytics and search setup, then provide ongoing support. The build can use a content management system your team can edit, with testing on real devices and browsers.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Gather these materials so we can discuss the store with your actual products and operations in view.

  • A product spreadsheet with descriptions, prices, SKUs, variants, stock, categories, weights and package sizes. Missing dimensions can produce incorrect delivery charges.
  • Original product photos, with consistent backgrounds and proportions, several angles and an image for each colour variant.
  • Plain-language shipping, returns, refund, privacy and terms policies. Payment providers may review them when considering your merchant account.
  • Business registration, bank and identity documents for a gateway account in your business's name. The provider decides on approval.
  • Logins for your domain, DNS, existing site, email, analytics and Google accounts, held in your business's name.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline of e-commerce development

The scope determines how much design, preparation, configuration and testing the work needs.

  • Product data

A clean spreadsheet is easier to import than information scattered across an old store, supplier PDFs and photo threads.

  • Design

Adapting an existing theme involves less work than creating a custom design around unusual products or a distinct brand.

  • Migration

Moving customers, order history, reviews and gift cards adds work beyond moving products. Existing customers will usually need a password reset.

  • Checkout and markets

Gift messages, wholesale price tiers or customer-specific catalogues add rules to build and test. Each market can also add currency, language and tax settings.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with e-commerce development

  • Losing old page routes

When changing platforms, map each old product and category URL to its closest new page with a permanent server-side redirect, including routes for products you have dropped.

  • Testing only in sandbox mode

Place a real low-value order using live payment settings and refund it. This can expose webhook, currency and order-email configuration problems.

  • Sending email without authentication

Set up SPF or DKIM on your sending domain so order messages are less likely to land in spam. Gmail requires at least one of them.

  • Showing charges too late

Give shoppers delivery and tax estimates on product or cart pages, instead of revealing the costs only at the final checkout step.

Questions

Asked by businesses in United Arab Emirates

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does an ecommerce website cost to develop?

There is no fixed price. The work depends on the catalogue import and on how deeply the store needs to connect with other systems. A simple order export to accounting is smaller than two-way stock and price synchronisation with an ERP. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.

What is included in an e-commerce store build?

A store build covers the catalogue, product and collection pages, cart, checkout and the admin your team uses to manage orders. It also includes customer accounts and policy pages. Product choices such as size or pack need their own variant details, including stock, SKU, price and image where relevant.

Can you move our existing store to a new platform?

Yes. We can migrate products, customers and order history where the platforms allow it. Agree the records you need before choosing the destination: the available migration options affect what your team can see in the new store and what information must remain accessible elsewhere.

Who owns the store after launch?

You own your domain, content and code. That means you are not locked to the team that built the store and can choose who works on it later. Keep the domain and other account access in the business's control so a change of developer does not interrupt your ability to manage the store.

What should we manage after the store launches?

Retest the complete checkout after an app, plugin or theme change, and give each staff member a separate login with only the permissions they need. Compare conversion, checkout drop-off, repeat purchases and product-page speed with your figures from before launch or migration to see where to investigate.

How do shipping rules and order emails get set up?

We configure shipping rates and delivery conditions around your products and fulfilment. The setup can include weight-based rates, local pickup and restrictions for items that cannot ship to certain areas. Order, dispatch and refund emails need your branding, a sender on your own domain and wording that matches your policies.
