Choosing

Which e-commerce platform should you choose?

Shopify is the simplest option to run. WooCommerce suits a team already using WordPress, especially when the store sits alongside substantial content. With WooCommerce, you have control over code, data and hosting, but someone must also look after hosting, updates, security and plugin compatibility. Decide who will do that work before choosing it.

A custom or headless storefront, such as Next.js connected to a commerce back end, fits an unusual catalogue, a product configurator or a content-led brand. It takes more build effort, and most later changes need a developer. That trade-off is worth examining if your team expects to change the storefront often.

Your own store and a marketplace can also work alongside each other, with stock synced between them. A marketplace brings ready traffic but controls the rules and customer relationship; your own store keeps customer data and margin, while you take responsibility for attracting visitors. We recommend a platform after learning how your products and operations work.

Local

What Oklahoma businesses need from an online store

Oklahoma produces agricultural products and has a food-processing sector. A wholesaler selling those products may need customer-specific prices, minimum order quantities, quote requests and ordering on account. Those requirements affect the catalogue and the way a customer places an order, so they need to be established before the storefront is designed.

For an Oklahoma shop adding online sales, the useful details include stock synced with the till and a click-and-collect option. A maker selling configurable goods may also need file uploads, previews or price rules. Delivery settings can then reflect the products: for example, restricting oversized items from areas they cannot be shipped to.

Rules

What a United States store needs to handle

State-level sales tax applies in many US states, while some have no statewide sales tax. Your checkout needs tax settings that reflect where and what you sell. We configure the store's tax rules alongside its payment and shipping settings, using the decisions you make for your business.

Commercial email needs a valid physical postal address and a clear opt-out, with requests honoured within 10 business days. We connect your email tool to the store; prepare the address and opt-out process for your commercial messages as part of that setup.

How it runs

How an e-commerce project runs with us

You talk directly to the people designing and building your store. IST is 10h30m (Eastern) to 13h30m (Pacific) ahead of the mainland US in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. We agree feedback and decisions as the work moves between us.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, customers and goals. You help us agree the scope of the store before design begins.

  2. 02

    Design

We design product, collection and checkout pages for desktop and mobile. You review the screens and give feedback before code is written.

  3. 03

    Build

We develop the agreed store, using clean code or a CMS your team can edit, and test it on real devices and browsers.

  4. 04

    Test orders

You place orders across payment methods, shipping zones, discounts and tax cases, then check stock, emails and the order records in the admin.

  5. 05

    Launch and care

We set up the domain, email, analytics and search, followed by ongoing support.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Gather these materials and decisions so we can understand the work your store needs.

  • Product photosKeep high-resolution originals, with consistent backgrounds and an image for each colour variant.
  • PoliciesPrepare plain-language shipping, returns, refund, privacy and terms policies.
  • Payment documentsGather registration, bank and identity details; open the gateway account in your business's name.
  • Tax and delivery decisionsCheck applicable taxes with your accountant, and decide delivery areas, couriers and charges.
  • Account accessGather domain, DNS, store, email, analytics and Google logins held in your business's name.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline of e-commerce development

The scope determines the work involved and how long the build takes.

  • Catalogue complexity

Variants, bundles, engraving and goods sold by weight or length add setup work.

  • Product data

A clean spreadsheet is quicker to import than information scattered across an old store, supplier PDFs and photo threads.

  • Design

Adapting a theme takes less work than creating a custom design for unusual products.

  • Integrations

A simple accounting export is smaller than syncing stock and prices with an ERP or marketplaces.

  • Checkout rules

Delivery date pickers, wholesale tiers and customer-specific catalogues add configuration and testing.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with e-commerce development

  • Losing old page addresses during migration

Map each old product and category URL to its closest new page with a permanent redirect, including products you drop.

  • Adding a plugin for every feature

Review what each app does and remove unused ones. Extra scripts, admin clutter and conflicts make the store harder to maintain.

  • Leaving delivery charges and taxes until checkout

Show estimates on product or cart pages so customers see likely costs earlier.

  • Overloading product pages

Compress images and load review, chat and tracking scripts only where they are needed.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Oklahoma

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an e-commerce website?

There is no fixed price. The work depends on how your catalogue uses attributes and variants, which order emails need writing and branding, and whether additional markets need their own currencies, translated content and tax display. We agree the scope with you before the build.

Can you migrate my existing store?

Yes. We can migrate products, customers and order history where the existing and new platforms allow it. Check which records are available on your current platform before agreeing the scope, so the migration plan reflects the information you need to retain in the new store.

Which payment gateways can you set up?

We support Stripe, PayPal, Razorpay and local gateways, subject to your country and platform. Stripe lists the United States as a country where businesses can sign up. Compare supported payment methods as well as settlement timing, refunds and disputes before choosing a gateway.

What is included in the store build?

The build covers the storefront and the settings your team uses to run it, including customer accounts, policy pages and the store admin. We also build product pages with structured data for rich search results. Your agreed scope determines the features included in your project.

Will I own the store after launch?

You own your domain, content and code, so you are not locked to the team that built the store. Give each staff member a separate login with only the permissions they need. That keeps day-to-day access organised as different people work in the admin.

What should I check after the store launches?

Compare conversion rate, average order value, checkout drop-off, repeat purchases and product-page speed with your figures from before launch or migration. Also check email authentication: order emails sent from a domain without SPF or DKIM can land in spam, and Gmail requires senders to set up at least one.
