Choosing
Which platform should you choose for your store?
Shopify suits you if you want hosting, security, checkout and platform updates handled for you. Apps add features, but their subscriptions are an ongoing consideration, and deeper checkout changes are limited to the Shopify Plus plan. It is a practical choice when ease of running the store is a priority.
WooCommerce fits a business already using WordPress or publishing a lot of content. You have control over the code, data and hosting, but someone needs to look after updates, security and plugin compatibility. Make sure that responsibility is clear before choosing it.
A custom or headless storefront, such as Next.js connected to a commerce back end, suits unusual catalogues, product configurators and content-led brands. It takes more build effort, and later changes usually need a developer. We recommend a platform after understanding your products and operations, including the choices customers make and the work your team needs to do after an order arrives.
Local
What Bengaluru businesses need from an online store
Bengaluru has businesses in textiles, electronics, agriculture and food processing. A distributor selling to other businesses may need customer-specific prices, minimum quantities and quote requests. A maker selling configurable products needs a different catalogue: choices might include file uploads, previews or price rules, alongside the product information a buyer needs to place an order.
Bengaluru also has higher-education institutions. An institution selling products through a physical shop could need online stock connected to its till and a click-and-collect option. If it currently takes orders through social media or messages, a catalogue, online payment and order tracking give customers a way to order without sending each request by hand.
Rules
What an online store in India has to handle
For Indian supplies, GST treatment differs between intra-state and inter-state orders. We configure the store’s tax settings around the product and delivery decisions you provide, so the checkout reflects the applicable treatment.
UPI is a mobile payment option for merchant payments. We configure the payment gateway around the methods it supports, including UPI where available, and check how refunds and settlements work. We also build space for the legal name, principal geographic address, website and customer-care and grievance-officer contacts that e-commerce entities must display.
How it runs
How an e-commerce project runs with us
We are an India-based studio working remotely with clients through video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. You can review the work and discuss decisions with us without needing an in-person meeting.
- 01
Discover, design and build
We learn about your business and audience, agree the scope with you, then prepare desktop and mobile designs. You give feedback before coding starts. We build the agreed store and test it on real devices and browsers.
- 02
Check the catalogue
We import a small product sample first. You review titles, variants, prices and images before the full catalogue goes in, so corrections are made to the template early.
- 03
Test orders
You place orders across the payment methods, shipping zones, discounts and tax cases. Check stock, order emails and the way each order appears in the admin.
- 04
Launch and care
We set up the domain, email, analytics and search, then provide ongoing support after launch. Your team has the store ready to use.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather these details before we discuss your store.
- Product dataPrepare a spreadsheet with names, descriptions, prices, SKUs, variants, stock, categories, weights and package sizes.
- PhotosKeep original high-resolution images, with consistent backgrounds and an image for each colour variant.
- PoliciesWrite your shipping, returns, refund, privacy and terms information in plain language.
- Gateway documentsHave registration, bank and identity details ready; open the account in your business’s name.
- Business decisionsCheck product taxes with your accountant and decide your delivery areas, couriers and charges.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The work changes with the catalogue, design and systems the store needs to handle.
Catalogue complexity
Variants, bundles, engraving and products sold by weight or length need more decisions than straightforward products.
Product data
A clean spreadsheet takes less preparation than information spread across supplier PDFs and photo messages.
Design
Adapting a theme is smaller work than creating a design around unusual products or a distinct brand.
Integrations
Two-way stock and price synchronisation with an ERP takes more work than a one-way order export.
Migration
Moving order history, reviews and gift cards adds scope; existing customers usually need a password reset.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid when building your store
Surprise checkout charges
Show delivery and tax estimates on product or cart pages instead of leaving them until the final step.
Heavy product pages
Compress images and load review, chat and tracking scripts only where needed.
Too many plugins
Check what each app does and remove unused ones to reduce clutter, recurring charges and possible conflicts.
Order emails in spam
Set up SPF or DKIM authentication for the sending domain; Gmail requires at least one of them.

How much does an ecommerce website cost to develop?
There is no fixed price for every store. Catalogue import and stock setup, accounting and marketplace connections, and the extent of any migration all change the work. We first agree the scope with you, including what needs to move from an existing store and which systems the new one must connect.
Should I choose Shopify, WooCommerce or a custom store?
The choice starts with your products and operations. Shopify is simplest to run, WooCommerce suits a team already using WordPress, and custom work suits unusual catalogues or checkouts. We build on Shopify or WooCommerce, and also build headless Next.js storefronts when the requirements call for that approach.
What is included beyond the product pages?
The store needs delivery rules, customer emails and search-ready product pages as well. We configure shipping zones and rates, including options such as local pickup where needed. Order, dispatch and refund emails need your branding and policy wording; product-page structured data makes those pages eligible for rich search results.
Can you move my existing store?
Yes. We can migrate products, customers and order history where the platforms allow it. The move also needs a plan for existing product and category URLs: map each old address to the closest new page and use permanent redirects, including for products that are no longer sold.
Will I own my store after it is built?
You own your domain, content and code, and you are not locked to the team that built the store. That gives you the choice to work with another developer later. Ask us to identify those project assets as you agree the scope and handover.
What should we check after the store launches?
Track checkout drop-off, conversion rate, average order value, repeat purchases and product-page speed against your earlier figures. Retest the full checkout after an app, plugin or theme change. Give each staff member a separate login with only the permissions they need, so access matches their work.
