See the serviceWhat it does
A SERP preview tool shows what your page will look like in Google search results before you publish. Paste the URL, title tag and meta description and the preview updates as you type, in the font and sizes Google uses on desktop and on mobile. Each field is measured in pixels, not characters, so you can see exactly where a long title will be cut and fix it in the editor rather than waiting for Google to show the problem.
How to use it
- Paste the page URL. The preview turns it into the breadcrumb Google shows above the title.
- Enter the title tag and meta description from your CMS.
- Switch between Desktop and Mobile to check both layouts.
- Watch the two badges. "Truncated" means the ellipsis in the preview marks where the cut falls.
- Shorten or reorder the text until both badges say "Fits", keeping the main search phrase near the start.
How to read the result
The two stats report pixel width against the limit for the selected device. A title of 58 characters that measures 540px on desktop fits comfortably, with about 60px to spare. The same title with a long brand name added, at 71 characters and 660px, loses its last two words on desktop and shows "…" instead. On mobile the limit is higher because the title wraps, so that same 71-character title might fit, which is why the badges can disagree between devices.
The description limit of about 920px on desktop works out to roughly 155 characters of normal English. A description that measures 1,050px will be cut around the 140th character, so make sure the offer and the call to action land before that point.
If the preview looks fine but the live result does not, Google has rewritten the snippet. That usually means the page text and the tags disagree about what the page is for.

Questions
Frequently asked.
Why does the preview differ from what Google actually shows?
Google rewrites titles and descriptions when it thinks the page text answers the query better. It also changes layouts often and tests new designs by region. The preview shows the best case, where Google uses your tags as written. If the real result differs, look at whether your tags match the page content.
Is the mobile limit longer than desktop?
For titles, yes, because mobile wraps onto two lines at a smaller font size. Descriptions also get more lines on mobile. Check both views, since a title that fits on mobile can still lose its last words on desktop, and most business searches happen on both.
Does the URL breadcrumb matter?
A little. Google shows the domain and a breadcrumb made from the path, so a clean path such as /services/web-design reads better than /page?id=42. It is a small trust signal, not a ranking factor, but it costs nothing to get right.
