Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
Start with who will update the site. WordPress suits a team that regularly edits its own content. A custom Next.js site suits a business that wants fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits, and is happy to involve a developer when the structure needs to change. A custom site can still include an editor.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that you want to run yourself. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. A custom design fits a specific brand or audience; an adapted template can suit a simple brief when it is reworked around your actual content.
For a site with heavy editing needs, a separate content editor paired with a custom front end is another option. That gives you more moving parts to host and maintain. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works and what it needs to change.
Local
What Yakima organisations need from a website
Yakima’s agriculture includes fruit, vegetables and hops. A grower or supplier needs clear product or capability pages, relevant certifications and downloadable specifications. A quote form should collect enough detail for the person receiving it to respond properly.
Businesses selling regional produce, wine and beer have returned to downtown Yakima. For a seller, the home page and navigation need to lead with the products the business most wants to sell, so visitors can find them without sorting through an unfocused list.
Yakima also has post-secondary schools. An organisation recruiting through its website needs a clear route for job applications and a named person responsible for handling them, so an enquiry reaches someone who can act on it.
Rules
What a US website project has to handle
US guidance says the ADA covers goods and services that businesses open to the public offer on the web, and points to WCAG as helpful guidance. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and set up a clear heading structure as part of the build. WCAG has A, AA and AAA levels; choosing a target early gives the design and review work a shared reference.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely from India over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 13h30m ahead of Pacific time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board keeps feedback and decisions visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. Those answers shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan
We make wireframes before the visual design. Review the content and its order at this stage; colours come later.
- 03
Design
We produce desktop and mobile page designs and refine them with your feedback. Review the pages on a phone as well as a large screen.
- 04
Build
We develop the site in clean code or with a content management system your team can edit, then test it on real devices and browsers.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather what you have and note what still needs work.
- Logo files in SVG, AI or EPS, plus your brand colours and fonts.
- A ranked list of the services or products you want to feature.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work, or a plan to arrange them.
- Domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console logins, or the name of the person who holds them.
- Case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials, certifications and memberships in one folder.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The scope and readiness of your material shape the work involved.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template take less effort.
Migration
Blog posts, news archives and downloadable files from an old site need moving and checking.
Content gathering
Service descriptions, team bios, case studies and photos need owners, so decide early who will supply each item.
Placeholder copy
Designing with it can create rework when the real headings and paragraphs arrive at different lengths.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Yakima
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. Features such as booking, member logins or a CRM connection add design, build and testing work. Copywriting, photography or translation also expand the scope compared with supplying content ready to publish. We agree the scope with you so the work to be quoted is clear.
Is a website still worth investing in?
A useful way to judge it is by the enquiries it helps you receive. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions in analytics, then check which pages visitors started from. Also assign someone to update news, projects and job posts, so the information visitors see remains current.
Can you design the site around our existing brand?
Yes. We can build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Bring the files you have and tell us what still needs creating; that gives the design work a clear starting point without assuming every asset is ready to publish.
Will we own the website when it is finished?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, you retain control of the accounts as well as the materials used to build the website.
What happens at launch and afterwards?
We provide ongoing support after launch. Before the site goes live, you proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. That check gives you a chance to catch small errors and verify the enquiry route before visitors start using it.
