Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits you if your team publishes frequently and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins gives you options as the site develops, but someone needs to keep the software updated for security. Before choosing it, decide who will look after those updates as well as the content. An editor is useful only when someone has the responsibility to use it.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits a design that needs freedom from template limits, fast pages and tight security. It can still have a content editor, although you should be comfortable asking a developer to make structural changes. Think about the changes you expect to make: adding a news post and rearranging the structure of the site are different jobs. We recommend WordPress or Next.js after learning how your team works and what it needs to control.
Local
What Federal Way organisations and businesses need
World Vision International has its US headquarters in Federal Way. An organisation with a presence there needs visitors to find their way through its information and reach the appropriate contact. We set up contact or quote forms so messages go to the right inbox, with WhatsApp and click-to-call where those suit the organisation’s enquiries.
The Commons at Federal Way is an indoor shopping mall. For a business trading there, the website needs a clear structure that helps visitors find what it offers and a way to keep that information current. Agree who owns the page content, forms and search setup from the start, so the site remains manageable after launch.
Rules
What a US website project needs to handle
ADA Title III covers the goods and services that businesses open to the public offer on the web. WCAG provides guidance for that work. We agree an accessibility target with you in the brief, then set up the sitemap, wireframes and desktop and mobile page designs around that target. Review the page designs with us before the build, so accessibility is part of the decisions about the site’s structure.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 13h30m ahead of Pacific time in winter and one hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to review work and leave feedback across that time difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do on the site. We use that to agree the scope and shape the sitemap.
- 02
Design
We prepare wireframes before the visual design. Your feedback first focuses on page content and its order; we then refine the desktop and mobile designs with you.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in Next.js or WordPress and provide an editor for content such as pages, news, projects and careers. Decide who on your team will use it.
- 04
Launch and care
We test on real devices and browsers, handle launch setup and provide ongoing support. Before launch, proofread each page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, and identify what still needs a decision.
- Your main goal, such as quote requests or calls, and who handles each enquiry.
- Services or products ranked by their importance to your business.
- Vector logo files, brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- Photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Login details for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or the names of their holders.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a reason for each choice.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The scope determines how much design, build and preparation work the project needs.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build work than pages sharing a template.
Features
Booking, calculators, member logins or a CRM connection add design, development and testing work.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add to the scope.
Brand
An existing logo and style guide save design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Federal Way
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website designed and built?
There is no fixed price. The work depends on how much custom design your content and audience need, and how much copy and photography must be gathered for the pages. An adapted template can suit a simple site with a tight brief, provided it is reworked around your real content.
Would a hosted website builder be enough for me?
A hosted builder can suit a small site that you want to run on your own. Wix, Squarespace and Webflow are options, with less control over code and speed as the trade-off. Consider the possibility of moving later: leaving a hosted builder can mean rebuilding the site.
Can you use my existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Share the files and explain how you use them, so the page designs reflect the brand your customers already recognise and you can review that treatment before the site is built.
Will I own the site, and who updates it?
You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Decide who will update news, projects and job posts after launch, too. An old latest post can leave visitors wondering whether you are still trading, so give that responsibility to someone who can keep the information current.
What should I check before the website goes live?
Check the site on a phone and review its search setup before launch. Page titles, descriptions and an XML sitemap belong in the build, and an indexing block left over from development can keep a new site out of search results. Review layouts with real text in place, since placeholder copy can hide problems.
