Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
Start with who will update the site. WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most pages itself. Its choice of plugins gives you options, although the site will need regular updates to stay secure. A custom design fits a brand or audience with specific needs; an adapted template can suit a simpler brief if it is reworked around your actual content.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run yourself. You give up some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. A headless setup pairs a custom front end with a separate editor. It suits heavy editing alongside a need for speed, but adds parts to host and maintain.
We help you choose between WordPress and a custom Next.js site after learning how your team works. Bring your publishing plans to that conversation: the people making edits and the frequency of those edits give us a useful basis for the recommendation.
Local
What Ventura businesses need from their websites
Tourism and hospitality account for a significant portion of Ventura’s economic activity. For a hospitality business, the website needs a clear page structure and an easy route to an enquiry. Decide which inbox receives a request, what the confirmation says and whether visitors should see a click-to-call button on their phone. Those choices belong in the build from the start.
Outdoor clothing manufacturer Patagonia is based in Ventura. A manufacturer or supplier needs product or capability pages that give a prospective buyer enough detail to take the next step. Certifications and downloadable specifications can support that decision, while a quote form should ask for the information your team needs to give a useful response.
Rules
What a US website project has to handle
For a business open to the public, US Department of Justice guidance says the ADA covers the goods and services offered on the web, and points to WCAG as helpful guidance. We set an accessibility target in your brief and use it to guide the page designs. WCAG has different levels of success criteria, so we agree the target with you at the start and use the latest version as the reference.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 13h30m ahead of Pacific time in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives you a place to leave feedback and keep decisions moving across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do on the site. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan the pages
We use wireframes to settle what goes on each page and in what order. Give feedback on content and priorities before discussing colours.
- 03
Build
We develop the site in Next.js, or use WordPress when your team needs full editing control. The agreed page structure guides what we build.
- 04
Check
You proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. This catches small errors before visitors encounter them.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather what you have, and note who holds anything still missing.
- Your logo in vector format, plus brand colours and fonts, or a note that they still need creating.
- Examples of sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console logins, or the names of the people who hold them.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Your main site goal and the person responsible for each type of enquiry.
- A folder of case studies, testimonials, certifications and client logos you have permission to show.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of a website
The scope and readiness of your materials determine the work involved.
Features
Booking, member logins, calculators or a CRM connection add design, build and testing work.
Content
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the work smaller; adding writing, photography or translation expands it.
Migration
Existing blog posts, news archives and downloads need moving and checking on the new site.
Brand
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Ventura
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope of the pages, the content that needs preparing and the state of your existing brand all affect the work. Decide who will write service descriptions and gather photos; we can also prepare existing brand assets for the web. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Is investing in web development still worthwhile?
It can be worthwhile when the site gives visitors a clear way to make contact and you measure those enquiries. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics, then check which pages they started from. Before launch, also check page titles, the sitemap and any indexing block left from development.
Can we edit the website ourselves?
Yes. WordPress suits teams that edit a lot of content, and a custom Next.js site can also include an editor. We recommend an approach after understanding how your team works. An editor can cover pages, news, projects and careers, so decide which of those your team expects to update.
Will we own the finished website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Your business should also hold its domain and hosting accounts and grant access to the people working on the site. Keeping those accounts in your name means you retain control of them when you need to make a change.
Do you offer support after launch?
Yes. Our launch and care stage includes ongoing support after the site goes live. It also helps to decide who in your business will update news, projects and job posts. An old news post can leave visitors wondering whether a company is still trading, so give those updates an owner.
