Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits you if your team publishes often and wants to edit most of the site without asking a developer. Its choice of plugins gives you flexibility, though someone will need to keep them updated for security. Before choosing it, consider who will take responsibility for those updates alongside the content.
A custom-coded site in Next.js suits you if you want fast pages, tight security and a design without template limits. It is a better fit when you are happy to involve a developer for structural changes. A separate content editor can also be paired with a custom front end, although that adds parts to host and maintain.
The visual approach is a separate decision. A custom design suits a specific brand, audience or content need; an adapted template can fit a simple site with a tight brief, provided it is reworked around your actual content. We recommend a platform after learning how your team works.
Local
What Tempe organisations need from their websites
Tempe has wholesalers and manufacturers. If you sell to other businesses, give buyers capability or product pages, certifications and downloadable specifications. A quote form should ask for enough detail for your team to respond properly.
Arizona State University’s main campus is in the city. For a university team handling enquiries, decide where each form sends its message, who receives it and what the visitor sees after submitting. Those decisions belong in the build, alongside the page design.
Mill Avenue’s shopping and entertainment area attracts pedestrians and students. If you run a shop or venue there, make it straightforward for someone using a phone to get in touch. We set up contact forms, WhatsApp and click-to-call links for the routes you want to offer.
Rules
What a US website project has to handle
For a business open to the public, US Department of Justice guidance says the ADA covers goods and services offered on the web and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. Agree an accessibility target in the brief. We set up a clear heading structure as part of the build, so the target is considered while the pages are being prepared, alongside the page titles, descriptions and sitemap.
How it runs
How your website project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 12h30m ahead of Arizona; the shared board gives you a place to review work and leave feedback across that gap.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We learn about your audience and goals, then agree the scope with you.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes before visual design. Review the content and its order on each page at this stage; colours can follow once the priorities are clear.
- 03
Design and build
We develop the sitemap and page designs with your feedback, then build in code or an editable CMS. We test on real devices and browsers, so you can review how the pages work beyond a desktop screen.
- 04
Launch
We set up your domain, email, analytics and Search Console. Your team gets a walkthrough of the finished site and its setup.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather what you have and note what still needs work.
- Your services or products, ranked by business priority.
- A goal for the site and the person who handles each type of enquiry.
- Vector logo files, brand colours and fonts, or a note that these need creating.
- Photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- Case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials and relevant certifications in one folder.
- Account logins for your domain, hosting, email and search tools, or the name of the person who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline?
The scope determines how much design, build and checking work your site needs.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build work than pages sharing a template.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the visual identity during the project.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; writing, photography or translation add work.
Migration
Moving news archives, blog posts and downloadable files from an old site adds transfer and checking work.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Tempe
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to get a website built?
There is no fixed price. The choice between an adapted template and a custom design affects the work, as does adding a separate content editor to a custom front end. Gathering service descriptions, case studies and photos also takes effort. Once the scope is agreed, ask us for a quote.
Is a website still worth building?
A website gives you a place to receive and measure enquiries. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics, then check which pages those visitors started from. Also decide who will update news, projects and job posts after launch, so visitors can see that the site is current.
Can a custom site still have an editor?
Yes. A custom Next.js site can include an editor, while WordPress suits teams that make frequent content edits themselves. Decide who will make updates and how often before selecting a platform; that working pattern gives us a practical basis for recommending an option.
Will I own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code, with no lock-in. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That way, you retain control of the accounts as well as the site itself.
Can you use my existing brand and give my team an editor?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. We also provide an editor your team can use without training for pages, news, projects and careers, so you can keep those areas updated.
