Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its range of plugins gives you options for extending the site, although someone needs to keep those plugins and the platform updated for security. Decide who will own that maintenance before choosing it.
A custom site in Next.js suits a business that wants fast pages and a design without template limits. It also suits teams happy to involve a developer when the structure needs to change. A headless setup adds a separate content editor to a custom front end; that gives an active publishing team more editing scope, with more parts to host and maintain.
For a small site you want to run alone, a hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow is another option. You trade some control over code and speed, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. We recommend a platform after learning how your team works and how you expect to manage the site.
Local
What Edison businesses need from their websites
Edison’s commercial areas include Menlo Park Mall and Little India. If you run a shop in the area, your website needs a clear route to the products or services you want people to find, with page content your team can keep current as the business changes. An editor for pages and news gives someone on your team a practical way to make those updates.
If your Edison firm serves New Jersey’s finance or information technology sectors, buyers need to understand your expertise before they make contact. Separate service pages and profiles for the people responsible for that work give you room to explain what you offer and show relevant credentials.
Rules
What a United States website project has to handle
For a business open to the public in the United States, ADA Title III covers the goods and services it offers on the web. WCAG provides guidance for the site. We agree an accessibility target in the brief and use it to guide page design and checks during the build. Agreeing that target before design starts gives your team and ours a shared basis for reviewing the pages.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely through video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter and one hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board keeps decisions and feedback visible across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes showing what belongs on each page and in what order. Your feedback at this stage should focus on content and priorities; colours come later.
- 03
Design
We refine the page and screen designs for desktop and mobile with your feedback before code is written.
- 04
Build
We develop the site in code or with a content management system your team can edit, and test it on real devices and browsers.
- 05
Launch
We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather these details so we can discuss the pages and the work behind them.
- A ranked list of the services or products you want to feature.
- Your main site goal and the person who will handle each kind of enquiry.
- Photos of your team, premises and finished work.
- A folder of case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials and relevant credentials.
- Access details for your domain, hosting, email and analytics, or the name of whoever holds them.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline of website design
A website brief covers design, content, editing and launch, and each part needs an owner.
Page templates
Distinct layouts need separate design and build work; pages sharing a template need less work than pages with different layouts.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add work.
Existing content
Moving news, blog posts and downloadable files from an old site adds migration and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design work compared with deciding the logo, colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Edison
Page updated 5 November 2026
Is a website still worth building for my business?
A website is worth considering when it gives people a clear way to enquire and gives you a way to measure those enquiries. Track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks in analytics, then check which pages they started from. You can also keep the site manageable by choosing clear service pages instead of copying every page from an old site.
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope depends on the page designs you need, the content you have ready and who will update the site afterwards. Service descriptions, team biographies, case studies and photos all need owners. Once we have agreed the scope with you, we send a free quote.
What is included in a search-ready website?
A search-ready build includes page titles and descriptions, a clear heading structure, an XML sitemap, structured data and fast pages. We set up metadata, structured data and sitemaps as part of the build. Before launch, check that an indexing block used during development has been removed, so it does not keep the site out of search results.
Will I own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Your business should also hold the domain and hosting accounts in its own name and grant access to the people working on the site. That keeps control of the accounts with you when responsibilities or suppliers change.
What happens after the website launches?
We provide ongoing support after launch. On your side, decide who will update news, projects and job posts so that each has an owner. An old newest post can make visitors wonder whether your company is still trading, so content upkeep belongs in the handover plan.
