Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
Start with the person who will update the site. WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most pages itself. Its choice of plugins gives you ways to add features, though someone needs to keep the software updated for security. We also build custom sites in Next.js when the brief calls for a custom build.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site that an owner wants to run alone. It gives you less control over code and speed, and a later move to another platform can mean rebuilding the site. That trade-off is worth discussing before you put all your content into a builder.
A headless setup pairs a custom front end with a separate editor. It suits a site that needs speed alongside substantial editing, but adds components to host and maintain. Tell us who publishes content and how often. We recommend WordPress or a custom Next.js site after understanding how your team works.
Local
What Ohio businesses need from a website
Ohio has a large manufacturing sector, including automobile production, as well as a large agriculture sector. A manufacturer or supplier seeking trade enquiries needs capability or product pages, certifications and downloadable specifications. Its quote form should ask for enough detail for the recipient to respond properly, so the visitor knows what information to provide before sending a request.
Ohio tourism includes attractions such as Cedar Point and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. For an attraction handling visitor enquiries, the website needs a clear contact route on a phone as well as an inbox for messages. We set up contact and quote forms, WhatsApp and click-to-call, with forms routed to the right inbox.
Rules
What a website in the United States has to handle
US guidance says the ADA covers the goods and services that businesses open to the public offer on the web, and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. We use that guidance when planning the site’s pages and set up a clear heading structure as part of the build. We also set up page titles, descriptions, an XML sitemap and structured data, so those elements are addressed during the project instead of being left for fixes after launch.
How it runs
How a website project runs with us
We work remotely from India using video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 10h30m ahead of Eastern time in winter, and 1 hour less during daylight saving time. The shared board gives both sides a place to follow decisions and feedback across that difference.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what visitors should do. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan
We prepare wireframes before visual design. Your feedback here should focus on page content and its order; colours come later.
- 03
Design
We create page designs for desktop and mobile, then refine them with your feedback before the build starts.
- 04
Build
We develop the site or its editable CMS and test it on real devices and browsers. You can review the pages as they take shape.
- 05
Launch
You proofread each page, submit each form and confirm its recipient. We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through the handover.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have and note anything still to arrange.
- A goal for the site, such as quote requests, and the person who handles each enquiry.
- A ranked list of services or products to guide the home page and navigation.
- Your logo in SVG, AI or EPS format, plus brand colours and fonts.
- Real photos of your team, premises and finished work, or a plan to arrange them.
- Sites you like and dislike, with a short reason for each choice.
- Account details for your domain, hosting, email, analytics and Search Console, or the name of the person who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and time involved
The scope determines how much design, build and checking work is needed.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build work than pages sharing a template.
Features
Booking, member logins, calculators or a CRM connection add design, development and testing.
Content readiness
Copy and photos ready to publish keep the scope smaller; copywriting, photography or translation add work.
Migration
Moving old blog posts, news archives and downloadable files adds transfer and checking work.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid during the project
Approving only on desktop
Review every page on a phone too, where visitors will read and use the site.
Leaving content until the end
Use real headings and paragraphs in the design, so their length is accounted for in the layout.
Choosing a platform too early
Decide who will make updates and how often before selecting the editing setup.
Putting accounts in an agency’s name
Hold the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access for the work.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Ohio
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to have a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope of the pages and forms, the content that needs gathering, and the choice of platform all affect the work. Service descriptions and team bios need an owner as well as page space. We send a free quote once the scope is agreed.
Should I use a template or commission a custom design?
A template suits a simple site with a tight brief; a custom design fits a brand, audience or set of content with specific needs. If you choose a template, ask for it to be reworked around your actual content, so the page structure reflects what you need to present.
What happens to enquiries sent through the site?
We plan where enquiries go as part of the build. Decide who receives quote requests, what confirmation the visitor sees after sending a form, and whether mobile visitors should see WhatsApp or click-to-call buttons. Those decisions give your team a clear way to handle messages.
Will I own the finished website?
Yes. You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. That gives you control over the assets your site depends on, rather than having to leave them with the studio that built it. You can keep those ownership arrangements in view during handover.
What support and measurement should I plan for after launch?
Our process includes ongoing support after launch. You should also decide who updates news, projects and job posts, and use analytics to track form submissions, calls and WhatsApp clicks as conversions. Checking which pages those enquiries started from gives you a practical way to assess the site.
Is professional web design worth considering for an existing business?
It is worth considering when your site needs to present your work and expertise clearly to prospective buyers. A professional services firm, for example, can give each service and partner a page. We can also build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, preparing brand assets for the web where needed.
