Choosing
Should you choose WordPress or a custom website?
WordPress suits a team that publishes often and wants to edit most of the site itself. Its choice of plugins gives you room to add features, but someone needs to keep the installation updated for security. We recommend a platform after learning how your team works and who will maintain the content.
A hosted builder such as Wix, Squarespace or Webflow suits a small site you want to run alone. You trade some control over code and speed for that convenience, and moving away later can mean rebuilding. An adapted template also suits a simple, tightly defined site; it still needs to be reworked around your actual content. A custom design makes sense when your brand, audience or content calls for something more specific.
A headless setup separates the content editor from the front end. It suits a site that needs speed and heavy editing, but gives you more parts to host and maintain. Consider who will take responsibility for those parts before choosing it.
Local
What Fresno organisations need from a website
Agricultural production is a major part of the area around Fresno. Engineering and construction firms working with producers need a project portfolio that shows what they have done, with photos and enough detail for a prospective client to assess the work. Give each project a clear place in the site structure, so visitors can find relevant experience before they make an enquiry.
Fresno is a regional hub, and professional services firms serving that region need visitors to understand their expertise before getting in touch. Separate service and partner pages give a law, accounting or consulting practice room to explain credentials. For a clinic, practitioner profiles, opening hours and a booking or call option that works on a phone give prospective patients the information they need to take the next step.
Rules
What a US website project has to handle
For a business open to the public, US Department of Justice guidance says the ADA covers goods and services offered on the web and identifies WCAG as helpful guidance. Agree an accessibility target in the brief. We design desktop and mobile pages against that target, using the latest WCAG version as the starting point for the discussion.
State and local government websites have a specified target: WCAG 2.1 Level AA. For those projects, we set up the page designs to meet that level.
How it runs
How the project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India is 13h30m ahead of Pacific time in winter and 1 hour less during daylight saving time; the shared board gives you a place to review work and leave feedback across that gap.
- 01
Discover
Tell us who buys from you, why they choose you and what you want visitors to do. We use those answers to shape the sitemap.
- 02
Plan
We create wireframes to establish what belongs on each page and in what order. Review the content and priorities at this stage; colours come later.
- 03
Design
We prepare desktop and mobile page designs and refine them with your feedback before moving forward.
- 04
Build
We develop the site in Next.js, or use WordPress when your team needs full editing control.
- 05
Launch
Proofread every page, submit each form and confirm who receives its messages. We set up the domain, email, analytics and Search Console, then walk your team through them.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Gather your logo in vector format, your colours and fonts, or note which still need creating.
- Rank the services or products you want visitors to find first.
- Choose a goal, such as quote requests or calls, and name the person handling each enquiry.
- Collect real photos of your team, premises and completed work.
- Put case studies, permitted client logos, testimonials and credentials in one folder.
- Find the account details for your domain, hosting, email and search tools, or identify who holds them.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timeline
The work involved changes with the structure, features, content and brand you bring to the project.
Page templates
Distinct layouts take more design and build work than pages sharing a template.
Features
Booking, member logins, multiple languages or a CRM connection add design, development and testing.
Content migration
Moving news archives, blog posts and downloads adds transfer and checking work.
Brand readiness
An existing logo and style guide reduce design effort compared with deciding colours and typefaces during the project.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Fresno
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to get a website built?
There is no fixed price. The scope of the page structure, the content editor and forms affects the work, as does the effort needed to gather service descriptions, photos and other content. Decide early who will supply each item. We send a free quote once we have agreed the scope with you.
Can a custom website still have a content editor?
Yes. A custom Next.js site can include an editor, so choosing a custom build does not mean every content change needs a developer. Next.js is faster and more secure than WordPress; the right choice also depends on how much your team expects to edit.
Can you use our existing brand?
Yes. We build on your existing logo, colours and fonts, and prepare brand assets for the web where needed. Share what you already use at the start so the page designs can work with your established identity and your team can review them with that context.
Will we own the website?
Yes. You own the domain, content and code. Keep the domain and hosting accounts in your business’s name and grant access to the people working on the site. That gives you control of the accounts as well as the website itself if you change who maintains it.
What can our team update after launch?
Your team can use the content editor to update pages, news, projects and careers without training. Decide who will take responsibility for those updates, particularly job posts and news. Keeping those sections current gives visitors a clearer picture of what your business is doing.
