Choosing
Should you redesign the whole product or change it in stages?
For a live product, the choice starts with how well its current structure serves users. An incremental redesign suits a product whose users dislike sudden change. You can plan changes in stages, keeping the experience familiar as individual parts are updated. A full redesign is worth considering when the structure itself no longer fits how people use the product. That gives you more freedom to rethink the layout and flows, with more of the existing experience to review.
You also need to decide who will build the designs. Design-only work suits you if you already have developers who can take the files forward. You will need to coordinate the design and development work across those people. If you want a single party responsible for the finished product, we handle design, development and launch with the same team. We can discuss both the extent of the redesign and the build arrangement when you know which parts of your product need attention.
How it runs
How a UI/UX design project runs with us
We work remotely with clients through video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. You can discuss the work with us and give feedback without needing to meet in person.
- 01
Discover
You share your business goals, user types, analytics, support complaints and competing products. We turn that information into problems for the design to solve, so the work starts with the tasks and difficulties you want to address.
- 02
Agree the structure
We use wireframes to settle the page and screen structure before visual design begins. You review how the content and tasks are arranged while that structure is still straightforward to discuss.
- 03
Test the flow
We build a clickable prototype for users to try before development. You help invite customers or staff, and we watch where they hesitate or lose their way.
- 04
Hand over
We provide specifications, exported assets, named components and interaction notes. The designer stays available to answer developers’ questions as they build.
- 05
Build and launch
When we also handle development, we build with clean code or an editable CMS and test on real devices and browsers. We set up the domain, email, analytics and search at launch, followed by ongoing support.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you already have, including anything that shows where people get stuck.
- User tasksList the main user types and what each needs to do; mark tasks connected to revenue or support calls.
- Existing evidenceShare access to analytics, session recordings, support tickets or notes from sales calls.
- Brand filesGather your guidelines, logo, fonts, colours and any existing design files.
- Technical limitsAsk your developers which front-end framework and component library they use, and what the back end cannot yet do.
- Familiar productsNote competing products or common tools your users know, including what works and what annoys you about each.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing of UI/UX design
The work involved depends on the evidence you need, the screens you cover and the complexity of the tasks.
Research
Interviews, surveys and usability tests add work compared with a desk review, while giving the team stronger evidence for design decisions.
Complex flows
Onboarding, checkout, multi-step forms and permission settings need more rounds of iteration than content pages.
Platforms and layouts
Separate web, iOS and Android designs, or desktop and mobile layouts, add screens and reviews to the scope.
A design system
Building one from scratch adds work at the start, then saves effort as further screens are designed.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with UI/UX design
Polishing too early
Agree the flows before focusing on visual design. Otherwise, attractive screens may need to be restructured when the team discovers that the steps do not work.
Designing only the ideal path
Ask for errors, empty states and edge cases to be covered too. Leaving these for developers to improvise creates gaps in the finished experience.
Settling debates by opinion
Put the prototype in front of real users when the team disagrees. Watching people try a task gives you evidence to use when choosing between approaches.

How much does UI/UX design cost?
There is no fixed price: the scope determines the work. A product with many screens may need a full design system, while an established component library can reduce early design work. The type of prototype also affects the work involved: low-detail wireframes help with early structure decisions, while a clickable version supports testing flows with users.
What does a UI/UX design agency do?
A UI/UX design agency works out how people use a product and how its screens look. UX covers the order of tasks, screen structure, labels and error handling; UI covers the visual appearance of each screen. For example, that work includes deciding the steps in a task and the labels a user follows through it.
How should I compare UI/UX design companies?
Look for evidence that the team can deliver work your developers can use and, where relevant, show you products that are live. Agencies and development teams without designers need files their developers can build from directly. You can also review our portfolio: every project in it is live and in use.
What screen details should the design include?
Ask for the states people encounter as well as the main screens: loading, errors, no results, long names and missing permissions all need attention. Accessibility details include readable text, colour contrast, visible focus states, clear labels and tap targets that are large enough to use. These belong in the design work, not as decisions left until the build.
Will I own the work when the project is finished?
Yes. You own your domain, content and code, with no lock-in. If we build the product as well as designing it, that gives you control over those parts of the finished work. Discuss any existing domain or content you want to keep when you agree the project scope.
What should I do after a redesigned product launches?
Measure the changes against your figures from before launch. Task completion, drop-off between steps, support tickets and conversion can show where to investigate next. Keep the design files and design system up to date as the product changes, and collect feedback from support and sales teams to help plan the next design round.
