What you get

What’s included in mobile app development

  • App design

Screens and flows designed for iOS and Android conventions.

  • Cross-platform build

One React Native codebase for both platforms, with native modules where needed.

  • Backend & APIs

Accounts, data, notifications and admin tools behind the app.

  • Push notifications

Timely, targeted notifications that bring people back.

  • Payments & subscriptions

In-app purchases and subscriptions on both stores.

  • Store launch

App Store and Google Play listings, submission and release.

Tools we use: React Native, Expo, Swift, Kotlin, Firebase, Node.js.

Choosing

Should you build a cross-platform or native app?

For an app centred on accounts, bookings, forms, lists, maps, payments or content, a cross-platform build is a practical starting point. We use React Native to share a codebase across iOS and Android, adding native modules where the app needs them. That gives you a shared foundation to maintain while retaining access to platform-specific features.

A fully native build suits deep device features, heavy graphics, complex background work or new platform features needed at launch. You maintain a Swift codebase for iPhone and a Kotlin codebase for Android, so there is more to build and maintain. Most apps work well with React Native; we choose native when the device features call for it.

A progressive web app is another option for a staff tool. It skips store review, though it needs packaging to appear in the app stores. On iPhone, it can ask to send notifications only after someone adds it to the Home Screen. That limitation is worth checking against how your staff will use it.

Local

What Kuala Lumpur businesses need from an app

Finance, insurance and real estate are key sectors in Kuala Lumpur. If your customers already use a web platform frequently, an app can give them access to the same accounts and data on their phones. Your staff also need an admin panel to look up customers, edit content or block abusive accounts without calling a developer.

Kuala Lumpur’s service-sector employers also need tools for work away from the office. A maintenance or inspection team needs forms, photos, signatures and location attached to each job, with records sent back to the office when a signal returns. Those workflows should be part of the scope from the start.

Rules

What an app project in Malaysia has to handle

For physical goods or services, we can set up checkout to accept FPX payments from customers’ bank accounts through internet banking. DuitNow QR is another option: we set up the merchant checkout around its single QR code for participating banks and e-wallets.

The payment flow also has to match what you sell. We set up in-app purchase or store billing for digital content, features and subscriptions used in the app; physical goods and services need a different payment method. Some storefronts or regions allow outside payment options.

How it runs

How a mobile app project runs with us

We work remotely from India. IST is 2h30m behind Kuala Lumpur, so we use video calls for discussion and keep decisions and feedback on a shared project board between calls.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, audience and goals. You help us agree what the app needs to do and what belongs in the scope.

  2. 02

    Design

Put the clickable prototype in front of a few customers or staff and tell us where they hesitate. A screen is cheaper to change before it is built.

  3. 03

    Test

We send builds to your phone through TestFlight or Google Play’s testing tracks. Use the app as your customers or staff would and share feedback from real use.

  4. 04

    Submit

We handle the store listings, submission and review under your own developer accounts. You keep those accounts in your business’s hands.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Gather the account and system details that will shape the build and release.

  • Developer accountsRegister Apple and Google accounts in your company’s name; organisation verification needs a D-U-N-S number.
  • Google Play testingCheck the closed-test requirement if you will use a new personal developer account.
  • Existing systemsList your website, CRM, booking or ERP software and payment provider. Note which have APIs and who holds admin access.
  • Privacy policyPrepare a policy that matches the data the app collects, for its store listing and an in-app link.
  • Demo accessFor an app with login, prepare a working demo account and a live backend for Apple’s review.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline of app development

The scope of the screens and the work behind them determine the effort.

  • User roles

Customers, drivers and staff each need their own screens and permissions, even if they share a backend.

  • Live features

Tracking, chat and presence need persistent connections and more backend work than screens that load data on request.

  • Offline work

Showing last-loaded data is less work than editing records offline and resolving conflicts when they sync.

  • Screen design

Custom animation, additional languages and tablet layouts add design and testing across screens.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid with mobile app development

  • Wrapping the website

Give people a reason to install the app. A repackaged site risks rejection under Apple’s guidelines.

  • Asking for notifications immediately

Request permission when the benefit is clear, such as after an order. Android notifications stay off until the user allows them.

  • Adding an SDK without updating privacy answers

Include data collected by third-party analytics or advertising SDKs in Google Play’s Data safety form.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Kuala Lumpur

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does it cost to develop an app?

There is no fixed price. A documented API for an existing backend can reduce the work, while a new backend and admin panel add substantial scope. Costs also depend on moderation for user-generated content and the rules, sending service and settings needed for notifications.

How should I choose an app development company?

Choose a team whose working process gives you access to the people making the product and a way to learn from the first release. You talk directly to our designers and developers. We also plan analytics and crash reporting so you can see where people stop using the app and which devices crash.

Can my app share data with my website?

Yes. We build a shared backend that serves your app, website and admin tools. That gives you a way to use the same accounts and data across them. Bring details of your current systems to the discussion so the shared backend can be planned around what you already use.

What happens if users create accounts in the app?

The app needs an account-deletion path. Apple requires people to be able to start deletion inside the app; disabling an account alone is not enough. Google Play also requires an in-app deletion path for the account and associated data, plus a web link where people can request deletion.

Who owns the app and its accounts?

You own your code, content and domain, with no lock-in. Keep the developer accounts, signing access and code repository in your business’s name as well. That makes it easier to move the app to another team if your needs change.

What support does an app need after launch?

Plan for maintenance releases and check how people use the app. Google Play requires apps and updates to target a recent Android API level. Some JavaScript and content fixes can go out through an over-the-air tool; native changes and new permissions need a store release. Track retention and crash-free rate to assess releases.
