Choosing

Which platform should you choose?

Shopify suits you if you want hosting, security, checkout and platform updates handled for you. You can add features through apps, though app subscriptions add recurring costs and deeper checkout changes are limited to the Shopify Plus plan. Check which features you need before choosing apps.

WooCommerce is a fit if your team already uses WordPress or your store needs a substantial amount of content. It gives you control over the code, data and hosting, while leaving someone responsible for updates, security and plugin compatibility. A custom storefront suits unusual catalogues or checkouts; a headless Next.js build is one option.

You can also sell through a marketplace alongside your own store. A marketplace brings ready traffic but sets its own rules and keeps the customer relationship. Your store keeps customer data and margin, although you need to attract visitors. We recommend a platform after understanding your products and operations.

Local

What Riyadh businesses need from an online store

Riyadh has factories producing goods including food, textiles and furniture. A furniture maker offering made-to-order products needs more than a choice of colour or size: the product page may need file uploads, previews or pricing rules that reflect the customer's configuration. We build product and collection pages around those buying choices, with an admin your team can use to manage the catalogue.

The city also hosts international business forums that attract investment and visitors. A brand attending an event and selling through social media or messaging apps needs a catalogue customers can browse after the conversation, online payment and order tracking. That gives the team a way to handle orders without taking every request by hand in chat.

Rules

What your Saudi Arabia store has to handle

Saudi Arabia's standard VAT rate is 15%. We configure the applicable tax settings in the store and check how tax appears during checkout.

Online stores covered by Saudi e-commerce requirements must disclose seller identification, address, contact information and commercial registration details where applicable. We set up pages that display those details.

Mada cards support online payments through 3D Secure. We configure a suitable local payment gateway for card checkout, subject to the gateway's support for your platform and country.

How it runs

How an e-commerce project runs with us

We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. India time is 2h30m ahead, so the shared board gives you a place to review progress and leave feedback between calls.

  1. 01

    Discover

We learn about your business, customers and goals. You help us agree what belongs in the store's scope.

  2. 02

    Design

We create desktop and mobile designs for product, collection and checkout pages. You review them and give feedback before coding starts.

  3. 03

    Import

We load a small product sample first. You check its titles, variants, prices and images before the full catalogue goes in.

  4. 04

    Test payments

We test paid, failed, cancelled and refunded orders, checking that each updates the order record, stock and customer email correctly.

  5. 05

    Check before launch

You place test orders across payment methods, shipping zones, discounts and tax cases, then review the stock, emails and order records in the admin.

Checklist

What to have ready before we talk

Gather these materials so we can understand the catalogue and account setup.

  • A product spreadsheet with names, descriptions, prices, SKUs, variants, stock, categories, weights and package sizes. The last two help calculate delivery rates.
  • Original product photos with consistent backgrounds and aspect ratios, several angles and an image for each colour variant.
  • Plain-language shipping, returns, refund, privacy and terms policies.
  • Business registration, bank details and identity documents for a gateway account in your business's name. Apply early; the provider decides on approval.
  • Business-held logins for your domain registrar, DNS, current site, email provider, analytics and Google accounts.

Cost & time

What affects the cost and timeline?

The scope and condition of the material you supply shape the work involved.

  • Catalogue complexity

More variants, bundles, engraving options or products sold by weight or length need more catalogue setup and checking.

  • Product data

A clean spreadsheet is quicker to import than information scattered across an old store, supplier PDFs and photo messages.

  • Integrations

A simple order export to accounting takes less work than stock and price synchronisation with an ERP or several marketplaces.

  • Checkout and pricing rules

Delivery date pickers, gift messages, wholesale tiers and customer-specific catalogues add build and testing work.

Avoid

Mistakes to avoid when building your store

  • Leaving delivery charges and taxes until the final checkout step

Show estimates on product or cart pages so customers see likely costs earlier.

  • Sending order emails without domain authentication

Set up SPF or DKIM for the sending domain to reduce the risk of messages landing in spam.

  • Overloading product pages

Compress images and load review, chat and tracking scripts only where needed.

Questions

Asked by businesses in Riyadh

Page updated 5 November 2026

How much does an ecommerce website cost?

There is no fixed price. The work changes with the migration scope, the number of markets and the apps or plugins needed. Moving order history and redirects takes more planning than moving products alone; extra markets need decisions on currency, tax display and shipping. Once we agree the scope, you can ask us for a quote.

Can you move my existing store to a new platform?

Yes. We can migrate products, customers and order history where the platforms allow it. We also map old product and category URLs to their closest new pages and set up permanent redirects, including for products you no longer sell. That gives visitors and search engines a route from the old pages.

What is included in the catalogue setup?

We organise products into categories or collections and configure the attributes customers use to filter them. Choices such as size, colour or pack can be variants with their own price, SKU, stock level and image. We also build the store pages around how customers shop.

Who owns the store after launch?

You own your domain, content and code. That means you are not locked to the team that built the store and can decide who works on it later. Keep the business's account access organised so the people you authorise can manage the store as your needs change.

Do you support the store after launch?

Yes. Our launch and care work includes ongoing support after domain, email, analytics and search setup. After launch, compare conversion rate, checkout drop-off and product-page speed with your earlier figures. Retest checkout after app, plugin or theme changes, and give each staff member a separate login with only the access they need.

Can the store connect to our existing systems?

Yes. We connect stores to accounting, ERP, email and marketplace tools so orders, stock and shipping do not have to be handled by hand across separate systems. We also set up transactional emails such as order confirmations, dispatch messages with tracking links and refunds, using your store's branding and a sender on its domain.
