Choosing
Should you hire a dedicated team or choose another approach?
Choose a fixed-scope project when you can define the build and its endpoint clearly. You put effort into agreeing the work upfront. A dedicated team fits ongoing work where priorities change from month to month: you maintain a backlog and make decisions as new needs appear. That gives you more room to change direction, with a continuing responsibility to keep the work ranked and ready for the team.
Hiring in-house builds knowledge inside your company and gives you control over who joins. It also means recruiting for the capacity you need. A dedicated team skips that recruitment and gives you more flexibility to scale capacity up or down. If you already have developers, we can work alongside them in your repositories, using the tools and review process they know.
Start with the work you need done. We learn about your business, audience and goals, then agree the scope with you. That conversation gives us a practical basis for deciding which work belongs in an ongoing plan and what needs to be defined before development starts.
Rules
What a dedicated team project in Malaysia has to handle
A startup with a live product may have a steady backlog of features and fixes while working with a remote team. If that work involves transferring personal data to India, the data controller must inform people about the transfer and keep a record of each receiver, destination, data type and purpose. We set up the transfer record and the relevant wording in the personal data protection notice or another written notice.
The data controller must also make sure its contract with a third party or data processor covers personal data processing and security. We include those processing and security provisions in the agreement governing the work.
How it runs
How a dedicated development team project runs with us
We work remotely over video calls, WhatsApp and shared project boards. IST is 2h30m behind Malaysia time, so the shared board gives you a place to record priorities and review progress across that difference, with calls for discussion.
- 01
Onboarding
You walk us through the product and grant access. We read the code, set up development environments and start with small fixes to learn how the system works.
- 02
Planning
You control the priorities in a shared backlog. We review the list together regularly, so the work selected reflects what you need the product to do next.
- 03
Delivery
Each item goes through code review and testing before release. You then accept the work or send it back with notes about what needs attention.
- 04
Updates
We give you regular progress updates and demos. You have direct access to the team, so you can discuss what you see with the people doing the work.
- 05
Review
At agreed intervals, we look together at what shipped, what slipped and whether the capacity planned for the next period still fits the work ahead.
Checklist
What to have ready before we talk
Bring what you have, even if the backlog is still rough.
- A ranked list of features, bugs and improvements, with the reason behind each item.
- Individual accounts under your organisation for the code repository, hosting, staging and third-party services.
- Existing documentation and architecture notes, plus the names of people who know the product's history.
- A definition of done covering review rules, test expectations, supported browsers and devices, and who approves releases.
- A password manager for credentials. Avoid shared logins and passwords pasted into chat, so access can be audited and removed cleanly.
Cost & time
What affects the cost and timing of a dedicated team
The work in your backlog and the state of your product shape the capacity and effort needed.
Roles and capacity
A backlog needing design, front-end, back-end, mobile or testing work calls for a different mix of people and capacity from one focused on fewer areas.
Experience
Complex architecture, legacy systems and sensitive data call for more experienced people to handle the work.
Existing code
Missing tests, outdated dependencies and thin documentation slow changes, because the team has less support for understanding and checking the system.
Working overlap
The amount of overlap you need with your working hours, and the meetings the team attends, affect how the capacity is planned.
Avoid
Mistakes to avoid with a dedicated team
Leaving priorities without an owner
Name a decision maker who can rank work and answer questions. Without one, the team has to wait or guess when a decision is needed.
Treating the team as a ticket queue
Explain your users and goals as well as the requested changes. That context helps the team suggest solutions and spot problems earlier.
Changing priorities every day
Agree a planning rhythm and reserve interruptions for real emergencies. Constant switching uses capacity that could otherwise go towards the work already underway.

Questions
Asked by businesses in Malaysia
Page updated 5 November 2026
How much does it cost to hire dedicated developers?
There is no fixed price. The amount of capacity you need and the design work in your backlog are key drivers. Full-time capacity suits a full, ongoing backlog on one product; part-time or hour-based plans suit maintenance and smaller, irregular tasks. New pages, interface updates and design system work also affect the plan.
How do I hire a dedicated remote development team?
Start by identifying the work your current capacity cannot cover and how consistently it arrives. An agency may need development capacity that follows its pipeline, while a business with work in bursts may need more around launches and less in quieter months. That distinction helps you describe the capacity you need when discussing a plan.
Should I hire a freelancer or a dedicated team?
A freelancer suits a short, well-defined task. A team suits continuous work where continuity, code review and cover for absence are part of what you need. With our plan, you can scale capacity up or down, or pause it, as your needs change. Consider the amount of work you expect to keep bringing forward.
What work is included in the team?
We handle website and app features, fixes and improvements, along with design support for new pages, interface updates and design systems. The work also includes code reviews, tests and documentation to keep it maintainable. You can use the team for changes to the product and the design work needed to support them.
Who owns the code, and can we hand the work over?
You own the code, and we provide an NDA. Keep documentation, deployment steps and access lists up to date throughout the work, so the setup is ready for handover. That preparation allows the work to move in-house or to another team without losing the information needed to continue.
What happens after launch?
Development continues against the work your product needs. That includes dependency updates, security patches, performance fixes and refactoring, even when those tasks do not appear on a feature list. You can assess progress through features shipped, bugs fixed, release frequency, incidents and the time work waits for review or approval.
